S3 Serviced!
Re: S3 Serviced!
re servicing costs:
At Epsom Audi/DriftBridge VW the Audi department charge about £15 an hour more than VW. They do have different staff uniforms, but whether or not that generally
makes a difference I don't know. The two times I do know about are because it was the VW Service Foreman working on my Golf, and the Audi Service Foreman working on my S4. I have been lead to understand that the specialist cars go to the specialist service engineers.
re the cleaning, last time my Audi went in it was absolutley spotless, inside and out. When I picked it up a few hours later, it was still spotless but with a tag saying how they had washed it and cleaned the interior - cheeky buggers

Re: S3 Serviced!
For the record, I don't mind paying reasonable fees for servicing etc - but this just leaves a bad taste in my mouth - over £300 for basically an oil/filter change - AND they don't even change the air filter!!
Having an Audi dealer franchise must be like having a licence to print money!

M3 CSL - Silver Grey, a few options.
Re: S3 Serviced!
I agree and feel that mercedes are just like audi when it comes to charges oh well lets hope they dont get any higher.

I agree. You can't tell whether they've lubricated windows, doors etc etc and the air filter thing is just plain mad!
Mine would still be on it's original 4 and a bit year old one unless I'd seen the state of it when I was replacing the MAF - It was all gradually disintegrating into really fine dusty bits - no wonder my MAF was shagged
Re: S3 Serviced!
So, being serious, why do they not replace the air filters? I did mine myself at 13000 miles but in the 'old days', oil and air filters were always changed werent they?

Re: S3 Serviced!
I believe it is just a cost cutting exercise really, apparently the air filter on the RS could potentially pass enough air for say 1000bhp, allowing for it to get say 50% clogged it can still cope with the standard engine requirements, therefore the service interval is less. The initial outlay is small compared to a smaller filter and then if they can push the service intervals to higher limits it is a good sales pitch and makes them more in line with the competition
Just my opinion really

Can't beat a bit of boost!
Re: S3 Serviced!
Just read this from top to bottom and just thought i'd ask about tyres.
I brought my S3 secondhand from an Audi dealer in Jan, and he wouldn't budge a penny on the asking price (maybe something to do with the huge grin ), all I could manage was four new tyres as front two a bit ropey. I assumed they would replace with same as already on, i.e. P6000. When I collected it, it had four 'Kleber's', ???? What are they? Any good?
Tried to get him to change them to P6000's, wouldn't have none of it! He said they were speed rated and of acceptable quality.
They seem ok, lasting well, but not sure about grip as have nothing to compare it to (last motor 1.8 GTi Escort). How long with normal driving do tyres last?

Riz has your service indicator reset itself yet i have covered approx 1000 miles since my service and it is know reading 16000 miles.
Also my 1st AVS service + Haldex oil cost me £197
That was with a 25% discount so would have been £246
Stirling Audi i would recomemnd them to peeps if u live in the area. Lomond quoted £360

Re: S3 Serviced!
Had mine serviced at 13k miles and DIS showed 9100 till next service. Have now got 16k on the clock and DIS showing 5100 till next service. Mentioned it to my dealer and he said its perfectly ok, running according to plan.

Re: S3 Serviced!
My mates Audi TT had the same effects.... does anybody know if dealers can input a max and min mileage figure for the AVS setting? I agree with Mo....... they want all our hard earned cash so soooon its only a S3 too.

Re: S3 Serviced!
Yeah Riz they can set any figure they want, within reason of coarse. But never the less they are in control
