Can I use OEM headgasket to a 450+ projekt

I think you worry too much about your CR. You should be fine at 1.2 bar without lowering the CR. I am on 100,000 mile OEM head gaskets (standard compression ratio) and I make 499.1 bhp from 26 psi boost (just over 1.7 bar). I may be pushing my luck with my set up!
I know my way is a crude shove the air in with massive force, but I'd still be very interested to see what bhp figures you can get from 1.2 bar boost.

S4 - no longer missing 1 engine. Last seen leaving trailing black lines of gearbox oil.

Doug put the MRC base map in, and I then slowly slowly pushed it to the very brink with the adaption channels and 99 octane fuel.
I could remap it completely, but I'd have to de solder the flash and socket the ecu to do it. I know about the boot mode pin and how to feed the ecu a small 32 byte bootstrap but I've never done this to a microcontroller with Tx and Rx tied together. If I was to do it I'd have to solder the socket in so I could plug in my eprom emulator so I could change any byte whilst the ecu was running to verify things.
I know where the checksums are, how the checksums relate to the memory segments of the flash. I even know where some of the tables are. I've got bin files from several ecus and modified files which provide a good starting point. I've used ida to dissassmble the binaries, a la Andy Whittaker (though I am no where near as proficient as he is
I'm not even on the same planet
)
Against that idea:
MRC are really helpful. Doug's remapping service is very reasonable and between Doug and Minhea they know a hell of a lot more than I do about both the car and the ecu.
Why spend 6 months hacking around when a few hundred quid saves you the time and buys you others' experience. Honestly I've done this with other ecus and it's tedious, endless opcodes and a desk full of wires, ecus, flashing lights and variable resistors. The worse one was a subaru legacy GTB (sequential twin turbo) I rebuilt the boost control routine opcode by opcode to run a massive single turbo. It took ages and that ecu was simple compared to the horror that is the me7.1.
So, no, I don't reflash me7.1 ecus. Anyone thinking of a diy reflash, just take it to Doug (or other tuner of your choice). Honestly!

just go w stock then. but lowering the compression will definitely help. get the MTM one. its more expensive, but thicker also. so more compression drop.matias wrote:The headgasket from 034 will drop compression 0,7 points.. I think that is to mouch, if I dont want to run max boost.... Or am I wrong?AdamS4 wrote:$90 each from 034 Motorsport
Holy f**k - Mind me asking what your set-up is - Turbos, tubular manis?spen wrote:matias

Mmm thanks very interesting. 28psi on K04s - you like living on the outer edge then.spen wrote:@ dazzer: http://www.rs246.com/index.php?name=PNp ... &start=510
Which manifolds are they Spen? Had any problems with them?
