4 Tires = £873
Jackwood, I agree with you on this one, but tyre choice is always very subjective. I've always stuck with the OEM supplied size and manufacture for tyres. Over the years I've had P Zero's and PS2 and haven't had any complaints about either, but note that the PS2's seem to last a little longer. The main factor on tyre wear though must surely be the driving style and road type. I've got 18k miles out of my P Zerro's but I'm spending 75% of my commute on m/ways, and I only get to really drive the car hard occasionally at weekends as the wife and my 5 yr old boy are onboard most of the time.
If it was just me at the weekends , and a commute on A/B roads I'm sure I'd have got significantly less out of them.

I have 275/30 all round on my Avant and zero probs , just for infoPetrolDave wrote: Anyone tried 275/30's on an RS4 Avant?
With the different rear wheel arch shape and the ability to put loads of wine in (on a return trip from France) I'm concerned about them rubbing at the rear...
4x PS2sport 275/30 fitted and done were 1200 Euros

Me too, however mine is the B5. Really pleased with the Assymetricals compared to the PS2's and that is saying something!PetrolDave wrote:Thanks Mike!MikeD wrote:I have 275/30 all round on my Avant and zero probs

Hi Mark, markweems wrote:Jackwood - was that price at Kwik Fit as I am also in Wilmslow.
No, it was at Wilmslow Tyre and Exhaust on Knutsford Rd (ask for Simon).
You don't have a Black Avant, do you?
Nipper, I agree. I don't drive it hard often either (my wife uses it mostly in the week and at weekends a 2 year old and wife keep it tame) but when I do I have found nothing to complain at with the P Zeros. Especially in the wet, where they are just awesome. Well, compaired to the CS on PS2s, that is!!
Jackwood,
I have some sympathy for your point of view.
If you check http://www.alloywheels.com/tyrecalc.asp you will see a 275 tyre is about the limit for a 9" rim.
The difference in rolling radius between a 255/35/19 and a 275/30/19 is ~2%.
This is about the difference in rolling radius between a 8mm treaded 255/35/19 and a bald 255/35/19.
I drive the car hard, it hardly gets on the motorway at all, and whilst I've had no complaints about the P-Zero grip, I wanted to see why everyone was raving about the Asymmetrics.
So far on the drive home, I don't like them at all but then I'm not sure what pressures I should be running and how much time it takes to get the resin out of them and the real tyre to show through, thereby affording the good grip?
I suppose the pressures should be somewhat reduced over the 255/35/19 pressures but then, because of the extra width, to avoid premature collapse, maybe the same pressures might work?
What are guys using the 275/30/19's running?

One other point regarding the 'stock' or OEM tyres that Audi chose (I believe that most cars were either fitted with PZero's, PS2's or Conti's), of all the tyres that could be fitted at the time - these 3 types of tyres weighed less than their rivals. As for it not being an OEM tyre, do not for one minute think they (Audi) chose the Pirelli or the Michelin as it was the best tyre, if they did it would have been on the car throughout the production run.
I agree with Rob tho', & with the constant developement in tyres (like most things), there are probably other tyres that are more suitable now.
