Yes it should - though how you're supposed to control a phone in the centre cradle when you don't have an MFSW or an RNS-E puzzles me???

Given the rarity of RS4's without RNS-E I doubt that will be so much of an issue.

So to clarify if you have an RS4 with RNS-E and flat bottomoed steering wheel and have / had a dash or armrest mounted phone prep you will have a bluetooth module as well.

If you don't have RNS-E you're fecked.

If you didn't originally have a cradle or armrest fitted phone prep you'll need a bluetooth module installed before even attempting the SDS conversion in this topic.

If you have a MFSW you are a traitor to the RS4 ethos.

The reason for my comment was that I didn't think you could order an RS4 from Audi with a telephone cradle and a flat bottom wheel. I thought any phone prep meant that you had to sacrifice the flat bottom RS4 wheel for the MFSW - my mistake, sorry.

No, SDS is nothing to do with the phone at all!

SDS is speech control of the RNS-E, and does NOT require a bluetooth module - just the phone microphone, a CANGate, an Audi dash switch and mdified RNS-E software. Because the RNS-E is capable of controlling the phone module it CAN also control the phone, but that's not what SDS is all about...

I don't think I'm allowed to post links for traders who don't advertise on here so I've PM'd you his details.

You are allowed to post links to people who aren't traders on here. It's when the post looks like a full glossy ad for the company it steps over the line.

Graham,

Any chance you can send the details along with an 'all in' ball park figure for the step up (including the bluetooth retro fit)?

Thanks :D

Beg to differ , I have the flat bottom wheel and the blue tooth as from the factory, all works well except I haven't managed to download the phone book to the car yet.

No need to read my correction post...

That could be for two reasons:
1) your Bluetooth module hasn't been correctly coded to enable the full features (yes, that's VERY common even in factory installations).
2) your phone isn't 100% compatible. What phone do you have?

I just thought that I'd let you know how I'm getting on with this as I've had it for a couple of weeks now. It's probably the most usefull mod I've done to date. I must admit that I wondered if it was a bit gimmicky (sp?) at first but it really comes into it's own especialy when using the phone - a press of the 'Press to Talk' switch and it's just speech from then on - no more fiddleing with knobs (Oooh er  ), so much safer and fun too!

I've had to spend some time putting in name tags for the things like the phone, radio stations etc but that's not a problem and it didn't take that long plus once you've done all that it links nicely together including the SAT. NAV. Again, no more fiddling about, just press the button, say 'Navigation' and then 'Navigate to ....' - job done.

Fully recommend it.

Thanks for the info, I will try to find out which of the new Nokia´s work with this system and test it, if it still is no go looks like "PetrolDave" might be correct and I need to get the module checked. Phone will be easier to get than getting the local stealer's to check the module
