Question from new owner in Christchurch NZ

Post by James997 » Sun Mar 02, 2008 11:18 pm

Hi Chaps, I am a Brit who now enjoys living in NZ !
Had my 2001 example in Avus Silver for just over a week now and really impressed with it ! It has gone into the local dealer for cambelt, water pump etc and service. The list supplied on this site for all the parts necessary is extremely helpful !
My question is, when I pull away in the car there is a secondary light
clunk after the clutch is engaged . It doesnt feel like an engine mount as the delay between the clutch engaging and this noise occuring is too long ( I could be wrong of course !) It is almost like a secondary clutch engaging . Is this a diff issue ?? There is no clutch slip or judder or excessive pedal travel . The car is a NZ new. 1 owner vehicle with a full same dealer Audi Service history . It has covered the equivalent
of 80,000 miles. It is unmodified . I would be very grateful for any help. Also would be good to hear from other Kiwi owners on here.

Many thanks
James

sounds to me like it is normal due to the quattro drive train. The RS4s will clunk between gear changes if you let it. You just need to learn how to work the clutch a bit better.

Congrats on your purchase, what a nice car to have in the NZ with all that rain over there... almost like the UK.

A bit of trivia for you.. half of the Avus Silver cars that went to NZ ended up over here in Australia due to lack of sales. You must have one of a handful.

Hi Don,
Thanks for your reply. Just to be clear the car only does it when pulling away in first gear . Once moving all other gearchanges are fine with no backlash. By the way we have had a great summer here !

Hi James.
Good stuff with the car. I am based in Auckland and also have Silver RS4. Must say mine does not do that at all. Hope you find the reason.

There is a guy who traded his RS4 for a 911Turbo. If I can recall correctly- he bought miltek but did not fit it. He might still have it??? Must say it would make a good change to the car.

Have a look in RS2 section. "RS2 performance parts for sale". That is him. I see it was his RS2 that he got pipe for, but maybe he also got for his RS4.?????

Did you NZld guys see that Avus Silver RS4 that was running in Targa NZld a while back by a fellow called Rick Martin?

I think this is a pic of it getting some air.

Would be curious to know the story and mods of that car?

There are some good pics of it here as well, even one with it in the bushes.
Not sure if he is the best driver, though looks like fun and very lucky.
