9800 > 7600miles until service!

Right i had my S3 serviced around 16,500 miles and ive just done 17,000 miles.

When i picked the car up it said 9800miles until next service which i found very strange as it should be more like 16-17,000miles.

I asked on the forums and most said it will monitor the oil etc and will pickup to the real figure, but recently it dropped to 7600miles which really got me worried...... any idea`s? ive only covered 500 miles approx and its dropped from 9800miles to 7600miles.... thats 2200miles knocked-off with around 500miles driving [img]images/graemlins/frown.gif[/img] all suggestions welcome.

So then fellow S3`ers.... whats the best approach? ive checked oil and it is ok...... do i ring the dealers up or wait a few thousand miles?

If you only do low mileage, then perhaps this is the reason.
I beleive it says in the handback how the service interval is determined for variables, and it is based on oil state, mileage, type of usage, and time. Perhaps you car thinks it's going to be two years before you do the get to the mileage, so has switched to a time schedule and is forecasting mileage based on yourr current average...

Our S3 is on fixed interval servicing - at our request - and the DIS was set up for this. The service indicator went loopy prior to the service and was saying the car needed servicing at ever diminishing intervals under 10,000 miles. Took it up to the garage and they booked it in for 10,000 mile service at 10,000 miles and reset the indicator on the service.

We had done an interim oil change so perhaps that confused the DIS?!

I've just had my service and its reading 9300 miles, its been awhile since u serviced yours so i would be giving your dealer a ring. Make them earn there money.

Cheers ppl.... yes its been awhile time-wise but only 500miles or so real driving miles [img]images/graemlins/smile.gif[/img]
Ive not altered my driving really or the way i go to work.
I will give it about 1000miles and see how the DIS reacts.... and will ring the stealers up and inform them.
