Thanks Hutch,

I am getting hold of some second hand pairs of springs to play with, 430, 485, 500, 550, 650, so will see how it goes.

I think these are about the right range for me with the crap roads here. Anyone else have any views, I will probably try softer rears then harder rears to see what difference it makes.

Ok got the springs finished and fitted, followed the Stasis guide to fit standard width coilover springs to my KW v2 setup.

500 lbs 10" fronts and 550 lbs 8" rears, 2.5 inch inner diameter. Cut the Audi upper mounts at the front to fit, easy. Had a set of the Stasis type adapters made locally to fit the rears, see pic, it is an alloy spacer that takes the width of the spring and fits it to the old rear upper mount.

What a difference, superb, still quite soft though, I can see how 600 / 700 or higher can tighten up the car and still be drivable everyday.

I have fat HR arbs on stiff/stiff., running 25.5" front, 26" rear.

Well worth the effort in my view for anyone with adjustable coilovers who wants to be able - like me - to change spring rates easily from readily available coilover springs.

I may play with stiffer springs if I get the urge!

good news, I bought some stasis tracksport 600/700 (i beleive) 2nd hand and was a bit concerned they would be too stiff..... but it doesnt seem so... Im used to a lot lighter cars so the spring rates sound really high but I guess they arent really. Nice to hear 900 is too much, at least that gives folk a comparison.
Maybe we should take note of suspesion setting and ARB settings of cars partaking in RS246 Live! ?

Good move Mark, I still think the Stasis tracksports are the best setup for the money out there, and I recon 600 / 700 is the perfect choice of springs. Have a look at the rebound settings on the inserts before you fit them

- carefully wind the adjusters all the way in and make a note of how many turns or degrees of a turn it takes
then wind them all the way out, count again. You want to work out the ratio, say 1/2 a turn out of a possible 1.5 turns ie. a third of the way out. Further in is harder rebound to control the extension of the stronger springs.

Let us know what they are set to? Stasis set them from the factory to their secret setting lol ! they are just Koni sport (yellow) inserts the same as KW, not re-valved or anything.

What you want is the figures for all 4, you should have an idea of the starting point they were set at by stasis if the previous owner hasnt messed them up.

Get them fitted ! you wont believe the difference. dont forget to mod the rear upper mounts and front top mounts to give access to the adjusters.

I'm still not sure what my car is actually doing here. I've got the B5 RS4 shocks with original springs on, so the ride is lowered but its back-end is in the air - mine's a saloon not an avant. So, the spring rates are the same, but they're compressed.

I'm not sure what to make of all of this - I need a ride in some other people's cars with different suspension setups to figure out what I want/need.

Ran the Stasis Motorsport in my S3 and now in the B7 RS4. Went the harder spring rates everytime, ride was I rate very good and thats on Australian roads that sound very much like UK ones.

The Ohlins really make up for alot.
