Well i suppose if he really wants it buy him 1 of those whistlers for cars that dont have turbos to make em sound like scoobys! That way, the car runs as it should, but then sounds sh!t lol.

Turbosmart do a dual re circulate + vent valve.
RE: Dump valves ???
buy a CD with some toilet flushing sounds and a PA system or something...
Or tell him that its like throwing gratitude in yer face by bastardising such a motor
.......... he didn't request a biplane to fit on the boot as well did he?

Give him a thick ear and tell him to stop being so bloody stupid!
Car will run rich with BOVs (Blow Off Valves)and you'll be sucking unfiltered air into the engine when the car is idling/off throttle (IM vacuum will hold the valves open to the atmosphere - valves sit right in front of throttle body, i.e. after the air filter)
Apparently you can get BOVs with filters but you'll still run rich due to the MAF having already measured the air - the ecu will think that air is still present and fuel accordingly (but air will have been vented to atmosphere rather than re-circ'd)
BOV = CHAV. Bad idea.

Some after-market diverter valves are slightly more punctual than standard, just fitted a forge 1 on my brothers vrs and it is more noticeable!

I would advocate confiscating the car, and making him sit on the Naughty Step with a copy of the engine guide available from the downloads section of this website until he understands the air intake system and what it will do under load, idle and back-off.
As a quick summary, utilising a blow-off valve in these cars will make the engine run incredibly rich when reducing the requested torque. This is due to the order of components in the system, but the executive suimmary is that the mass of air going in to the engine will be different to what's measured if dump/BOVs are used, rather than recirculating valves that are currently in place.
This will have a pair of consequences. Firstly, some of the unburned fuel will vapourise when it hits the hot side of the turbo, turning to vapours and spooling them up quickly, but off center. This will mean less turbo lag, but a lifetime measureable only by hyperactive shrews. Secondly, the unburned fuel will also encounter the catalytic converters and decide that that's a really cool place ot hang out, and stick around. Just like carbon-monoxide in the blood, it'll bind preferentially and not go away for a long time, meaning that the emissionms of all the nasty stuff that the cats are supposed to get rid of will still be there and the car will fail its MOT and need all 3 cats replacing. Having replaced the downpipes in my own car recently, I can say that that's going to be a bastard of a job if you do it the way I did it, or it's an engine out job, which takes a long time anyway.
The S4 doesn't go "pssht". It also doesn't look like a Nova with full Ripspeed bodykit. It's much more refined than that.
There are 2 main solutions to the problem:
1) Sell the S4 and buy a Nova or a Clio, and the aforementioned Ripspeed kit from Halfords, and fit a BOV to the poor thing.
2) Get him on here and reading, and let him understand what a good car he already has, what can be done to it, and how he can leave his BOV-using mates for dust as the car is now, without sounding like the air system has sprung a leak, and furthermore, that using this engine setup, it's capable of an awful lot more.

RE: Re: RE: Dump valves ???
Chav-tastic.
i'd sell the S4 and buy him a 1.8T, he can pop his psssssssht valve on there. at least when it goes bang it'll be cheaper and easier to repair.
has he seen this thread yet? i wouldn't want him to miss out on all this love, lol
