milltek exhausts

Post by imolas4uk » Sun Dec 09, 2007 3:38 pm

i know this has been disscussed many times before but ?,i am considering a MRC remap in the future and to maximise the power i hope to gain i plan to gut the precats (as the clutch also needs changing),and i also have a local exhaust fabricator who can fit 100 or 200 cell main cats to the downpipes.
keeping the exhaust relativley QUIET is most important as i enjoy the car for weekend use mainly on motorway runs so a droning loud exhaust is a NO NO.
which catback system would be reccomended, milltek single or duel,or modified stock rs4 ?
i await your comments.

I find the single Milltek very droney at motorway speeds.

I have to keep putting my foot down to overcome the monotonous tone... officer

I don't mind my Milltek dual but I suppose it is droney.... you certainly can hear it sat at M-way speeds...

I would have thought the single was quieter?

I don't know if Supersprint have an application for the S4, but if they do, then i'd certainly consider one of these.

Sat in a RS4, with a Miltek, and it was droney, and also louder than my RS which has a Supersprint. The Supersprint sounds just right, with less drone/boom, and IMO is more vocal than the Miltek.

Both OEM RS4 and Scorpion are less "droney" than Milltek in my experience.

Why no go for full rs4 exhaust, that way you have 200 ell main catts,(gut the precats) and have a decent exhaust on there, then get your exhaust fabricator to change the tail pipes so they sit properly.

I'm loving my SKN system. It's tuned to be quiet at between 1000rpm and 3000rpm, when not under boost. It's fantastic for city/cruising, but unsubtle enough when the loud pedal is pressed. 3 inch downpipes with no pre-cats, and a sinlge 100 cell race cat.

I had a Milltek single (fitted along with Milltek downpipes & 100 cell cats) and it did not drone at all. Very quiet inside the car but a nice sound from outside.

The Milltek dual I have on now is loud below 2.8k rpm but quiet at motorway speeds above that. I really like the sound of it but I don't use the car daily. If I did, it would be off by now.

My car is stage 3+

I have the dual Milltek, and only find it droney at around 50-60 in 6th on the Mway, when traffic backs up, soon as yer free it sounds mint! To quote the missle it 'sounds like a plane' with both turbos spinning at full-blend!
Go for it!
