Fuel consumption

Post by SimonFV8 » Sun Nov 18, 2007 9:44 am

I remember reading a thread on here about this a while ago, thought it might be interesting to compare notes!

Driving sensibly on the motorway, cruise on about 75% of the time set at 78mph London to Southampton I averaged 25.6 mpg

My car is having a remap in the next few weeks and it will be interesting to compare.

Around town- 14-17 mpg
Dual carriageways 17-20 mpg
Motorways (sensible) 20- 24mpg, not reached 25 yet!
Motorways (100mph+) 16- 19mpg
Country roads (caning it) 11- 15mpg

There ya go

Remapped or not 24/26MPG is all you can expect on "out of town runs"

I was pleased with the mpg I was getting on a run, considering a friend has a Lexus RX400h and gets only 29 mpg out of it!

i posted recently about consumption - having not managed the "magic" 25MPG, even with considerate driving.

dont think the time/mileage affects the consumption, or at least I havent noticed a significant change.

Have to say, I wasnt expecting to get anywhere near 25 MPG out of the car - amazed at some of the high 20's figures on here.

Are you guys with good performance running adjusted tyre pressures, or all extremely light??

Ahh you see there in lies the problem, the darker the colour of the car the more drag, the more power required to make it catch up lighter coloured cars!!!! :biggrin3:

Nah, yours is faster only because of the weight advantage you have from having no paint on it!

Cruise is heavier on fuel too. No idea why, the B5 was the same, the B6 and B7 are definetly heavier on cruise.
