Lowering options for RS4 B5... HELP!
Lowering options for RS4 B5... HELP!
Hi guys, need some professional ideas n opinions from people who really know and not the dealers!!!
with 8.5 x 19 BBS LMs, on a standard RS4, would i need to consider lowering? if so would just some high quality springs be enough? i.e Eibach or H&R...
not looking to lower it to the extreme, would like to keep most of the ride comfort
Any suggestions would be appreciated
cheers

Not too low....
Just an advice don't have a very low setting, as it is a nightmare when you go over speed bump, driveways.... the exhaust will touch, and front spoiler. I have the H&R adjustable Kit with the anti roll bars set as well and it great .

RE: Not too low....
Yes I can ditto the above, and this is what has put me off lowering mine any sooner.
I have 19's, and stock suspension, and sometimes the exhaust scrapes over high bumps. And the front bumper also scrapes now and again over bad inclinations.

RE: Not too low....
I have the H&R's like Quattrosteph and set quite high - the car was too low otherwise. I still scrape the exhaust every now and then just riding off some block paving onto tarmac at home!

RE: Not too low....
i have KW v3's, set fairly low, but it only scrapes the exhasute when fully loaded going over the speed humps you can straddle
The H&R ARB's and coilovers make the ride quite hard...one reason why I had the coliovers adjusted to almost max ride height.
But with the harder ride comes the better handling.
I'm unable to comment on just lowering with springs. But would add - your shocks may need repalcing anyway due to mileage/ wear and tear!?

i have bilstiens and have droped the car by about 35mm .was worrid at the time about losing ride quality but to my amazment it improved it ! i found the stock set up very crashy ! now the ride is stiff but the ride quality is much much better ! the damping is much better with a quality coilover system! so dont worry about lossing the stock set up !!!! i cant coment about the k+w but the bilstiens were worth every penny. you wil not be disapointed

having gone over to bilstien coilovers on my rs4 i found not only do they lower the car but they actually improve the ride handing dramaticaly. its my first experiance of there coilovers.. but used to run an alpina b.34s that also ran on bilstien dampers wich was probably the best damped car ive ever been in ! so bothe my experiances with bilstiens have been very impresive. i can highly recomend themEDDY,G wrote:

I have the Bilstein PSS9s as well and I agree with all the comments above. Handling is now superb and ride quality is the same or if not better. Even when set 5 mm higher than stock.
