Audi Driving Experience

Post by rs4v8 » Mon Oct 01, 2007 3:59 pm

Any one been on one of these? Still some places left for this year in the UK.

The Audi website mentions the nurburgring and ice driving in finland after doing the one at silverstone.

Any info would be great.... :D

Did the Silverstone one a couple of years ago, when they still ran RS6's.

Often wondered about doing the Nurburgring event, as you need to have completed one course elsewhere to qualify. Can't say i'm that bothered about Ice Driving in Finland.

yeah I read that you need to do the silverstone one first. looks pretty good though. I reckon ice and 414hp in a 4wd car (not mine!) would be pretty good crack!! :D

I found it on the Audi UK page, no details about the european ones (and I've mislaid the email from audi) but the UK one was around 400 quid i think. see here http://www.audi.co.uk/audi/uk/en2/exper ... ience.html

Totally spanktastic & they want you to push the cars. Tried for fun to break a TTQS on the final section which was driving about half the main circuit.

That said the learning is great, exploiting ESP & Quattro & much safety & avoidance training.

Well worth the money if you're an Audi fan.

I've got mine booked for 6th Nov. I'll let you know how I get on. Might also bring my camcorder!

Were they standard spec RS4s? I presume they had sports suspension, but do you know about remaps or exhausts?

Christmas is coming early this year!!

they looked like standard spec as far as i could tell. more or less brand new as well (though the tyres were shot to pieces!).

You do get to hoon them plenty - the instructor's don't sit with you. Instead you share a car with a partner driver and take turns driving/passenger riding with your partner. It's not just RS4's you drive. They were used for the high speed lane change course and for mini-track lapping. You also do proper lapping (just of the stowe circuit) in TT's (3.2 DSG) and also use them for the slalom course. S6's for ABS brake testing and learning understeer control. All fairly basic stuff but essential for a novice driver to master for more advanced driving...

Did one at Silverstone 3 years ago and it was a scream. None of the otehr drivers on my day had anything in the S or RS line.

If they run the events the same way as they did then, you'll pair up with another driver and the instructos watch from trackside. One of the tests was looning (sorry driving) an RS6 first with ESP on then with it off on a tight course - the otehr guy was driving and managed a 360 spin at speed with smoke belching off the tyres..the instructor came over and said (now say this in your best German accent like General Von Klinkerhofen)...Don't you f**k my tyres". Gives you a clue as to how the day runs!

Do it.
