SD Cards, AGAIN!

Hi

I did have a good search but couldn't find the info I thought was in one of the previous SD Card/MP3 threads.

I'm just after a recommendation for some free (but safe) MP4 to MP3 conversion software.

I have cards, I have card-reader, I have car, I have music in iTunes. Just need the conversion software.

Change your itunes to use MP3 as the compression. Itunes>Edit>preferences>advanced>import>MP3
Then right click on all your songs and it will convert them to MP3 (apart from purchased songs as they are locked). If you want to convert purchased songs, you have to rip them to CD then import the CD.
once you have changed itunes to use mp3 compression everything imported will go directly to MP3.

Only downside is that once its converted the songs to MP3 you will have a duplicates, orig in aac (default) and mp3 copy. so then you have to go through and delete all the existing aac tunes.

If I select the whole list it will not convert them. If I select a single track it will convert. Any reason?

Is there a quick way of deleting the aac copies?

iTunes is a night mare, or am I an idiot.

If I convert an album to MP3 it produces a copy. If I go and delete the copy in iTunes, there is still a copy in the iTunes File. If I delete these copies as well, when I restart iTunes the copies are back on the track listing. If I try and play a track, it says the root file does not exist, so I have to delete the track off the track list "again". Arrrgggg.

What am I doing wrong, or is iTunes really this crap??

Best way i found to do it was to do it all in windows explorer, as a aac is just a file.

backup everything first, the do a a search for *.aac. delete the list thats retuned.

If I do this, and delete the old files out of the windows folder, it is still leaving the track listing in iTunes, it just doesn't play it when you click it as the root file has been deleted.

Am I doing something wrong there, or is it an issue with the version of ITunes I am running?

so you have deleted the root aac files. Itunes will still hold a link to a file that is no longer there suggesting what you now see. simply in itunes delete all the ones that you have deleted via windows.
if you select a song and a X appears that indicates the file cannot be found as you have deleted it.
