Just as a heads up & this may only apply to newer cars, but i called Audi Assist on Tuesday to check if their cover provides full cover in Europe. They've recently moved Audi Assist to the RAC from the AA & they now provide full European Breakdown coverage within the Assist package (great news).

I called RAC just to make double sure & they confirmed that Audi Assist now covers Driver & Car fully in Europe.

Jason, the only question i forgot to ask was the changeover date, however my assumption is that anyone with a car still covered by Audi Assist will now have European Assistance, as this additional cover came about when Audi Assist swapped from being AA managed to RAC managed.

IIRC, Audi Assist runs alongside the UK Warranty, so is in place for 3 years from the new purchase date, or if Audi Approved Used then 12mths from purchase date (plus balance if the used car is fairly new).

Thing with ADAC if i've understood correctly from other posts, is that they won't recover you from The Track itself, so you'll still have to pay the Nordschleife recovery their 250Euros to get off the track. I understand that Audi Assist can then recover from the car park or recovery compound as i asked this question specifically.

I'd not want anyone to take a risk on my account, so always worth checking directly by ringing the Audi Assist number (usually on the back/front of your tax disc holder) & check you're covered. Just nice to know that's a few ££'s i now won't have to shell out (more petrol money).

This still does not seem to be confirmed yet, Ben himself is not sure. Someone has posted in the ringers forum that there is still often an ADAC truck parked at the ring and that a german speaking somone was trying to get confirmation... for the sake of £30 i did it anyway, I am trying to ask my german speaking father in law to call them and ask for me, someone also posted that if you are recovered by the ring truck you can claim it back from ADAC even if they dont actually recover you??

I am pretty hopefull I wont need revovering from anywhere

Been watching a lot of you tube videos of the ring to learn the corners. I know some people think it's a waste of time and can lead to over zealous driving by a ring greeny, and I agree it can lead to a false sense of track experience if allowed, yet it can be a good learning session of the bends themselves and of what's comming up, nothing more. Anyway, I've trawled through loads and thought I'd share this one as it's up there with my favourites because...a) it's an Audi (RS6) b) the camera position is quite clear and c) if you watch it to the end then you'll see the tyre wear!!!

I remember that one, he was from RS6.com and I think he ran the track tyres too hard. Wonder if they were the right load rating as well ? Quick lap though, shame he overtook on the right, thats a big no no.

Insurance

I have been able to get agreement to a very good deal that will cover the 3 days of track activity...Sat Afternoon/Evening, Sunday and Monday PM.

The cost is 1.5% of the agreed cover with a 10% excess.

This is less than 1/2 of what you would normally expect to pay. I will have a phone number and name for you to ring sometime today or early tomorrow. It is up to you to ensure that you understand what you are covered for with this policy and RS246.com does not have anything to do with it either legally or endorsing the company involved.

I think he means the insurance premium is 1.5% of the value of cover you want (the value of your car I expect) with a 10% excess on a claim.

So for us in an RS4 B7 worth circa £50k, that will mean 1.5%=£750 with an excess of £5,000.

Thats a good deal if you crash and not so great if you don't.

Be interesting to see who takes it.
Never argue with an idiot, they will drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.

You can take as much cover as you like (upto the value of your car !) and the policy will pay out a maximum of 90% of the that value (damages - 10% excess). So, as an example, take £ 10K cover, cost is £150 and the maximum payout is £9K. This is for your vehicle only and does not include any 3rd party liability.
