Power run day!!
Power run day!!
Hey guys
I was wondering how many of us are in the Cambs area and fancied arranging a power run day at Jabbasport. They would need 15-20 cars and it would be 30quid a run. Could even get a BBQ sorted for the day.
It would generally be a saturday. So let me know if anyone is interested and maybe we could arrange something....

RE: Power run day!!
me and a friend might but the only problem with jabba sport i though was they don't have a 4wheel rolling road!
which is a downer for me and other mates with S4 and some rice cakes
i know luke with sick skoda fabia VRS yes diesel but 250bhp and 410ftlbs! i'm sure he told me they couldn't do 4 wheel drive although with S3 you could take the fuse out for the haldex LOL!

RE: Power run day!!
the problem i've just found with jabba sport is they charge you for undoing your rear driveshafts! for no reason!
found a place in boston the guy owns an S3 and knows what hes on about the plus is all the kit is almost new and state of the art!
name is corten miller and they seem pretty sound! and says you dont have to worry about taking out th rear drive shafts!
steve you live in wittering on the camp? think i saw you today! silver yeah? nice!

RE: Power run day!!
The rear drive shafts are disconnected for a good reason I have discovered. Because we don't have a permanent 4wd system on our cars when the haldex system starts shifting the power from front to rear you get peaks in the graphs. By only doing the run using the front wheels the graph is a lot smoother and is slightly more accurate.
RE: Power run day!!
The only reason to disconnect the rear drive shafts is because the operator doesn't know how to run the car properly in AWD. I'd never have my car dyno'd that way - it's not how I drive it and therefore not representative of true power figures. You're missing out half of the transmission losses for a start. Possibly why Jabba always have optimistic figures? Or is that good marketing?
RE: Power run day!!
How does a dyno compensate for the haldex system even with the ESP off on an S3 it still shifts the power between front and rear under hard acceleration. If you had the performance haldex controller fitted which converts to more of a permanent 4wd system I think that would make the graph smoother.
Doesn't the S3 adopt a 2wd system for everyday driving and switching to 70/30 front rear drive under aggressive driving? Jabbasport do dyno the cars but think the graph is a little peaky in places where the haldex system makes adjustments so they disconnect the rear to keep the power delivery smooth. You still get accurate engine power just not exactly what is pushed through rear wheels.
Am I wrong in thinking that for a 4 wheel rolling road you need permanent 4wd not what the S3 has?

RE: Power run day!!
I agree with ChrisRS4. I don't disconnect my rear driveshafts to drive on the road, so why would I do that to drive on a rolling road? A Haldex equipped car will be fine on any good 4WD rolling road.
RE: Power run day!!
standard s3 is a 80/20 split, n its jus a 2 wheel drive till like you sed aggresive driving, alot of the s3`s get wrote off goin round corners ive found out, because you take the foot off the pedal n it goes back too 2 wheel drive n it aint nice, coz its happend 2 me n i were lucky, cause there were nothing about, so about 8 month ago i decided to get the uprated haldex control unit to make it a 50/50 split, there didnt seem a big differance at first, but u can tell, jus a shame it aint 4 wheel drive permenant, weres the rolling road happenin, i wud get mine on too see wot it is, i think its around 280, but i want too now for sure.
RE: Power run day!!
The rolling road is near Peterborough. I was thinking about getting the uprated haldex controller was wondering what people thought about it
RE: Power run day!!
its easier to get the back end around its about it, i dont think it makes a big difference, and i dont think it was worth 500.
RE: Power run day!!
I'm getting rear ARB fitted soon that should be fun!
Re: RE: Power run day!!
I think lifting in any car midway round a corner is going to give you problems, regardless of the drive configuration.holland wrote:standard s3 is a 80/20 split, n its jus a 2 wheel drive till like you sed aggresive driving, alot of the s3`s get wrote off goin round corners ive found out, because you take the foot off the pedal n it goes back too 2 wheel drive n it aint nice, coz its happend 2 me n i were lucky, cause there were nothing about, so about 8 month ago i decided to get the uprated haldex control unit to make it a 50/50 split, there didnt seem a big differance at first, but u can tell, jus a shame it aint 4 wheel drive permenant, weres the rolling road happenin, i wud get mine on too see wot it is, i think its around 280, but i want too now for sure.
