The wet and the dark - two little things....

Post by hanbury » Sun May 27, 2007 9:44 pm

Just been out for my first proper drive in the dark and, as it has been raining all day where I am, it's very wet everywhere.

First thing I notice is how great the car feels in these conditions, really surefooted and inspiring confidence - great. :D

But then I notice a couple of little niggles. :(
i) at low (ie quiet) revs/speed the wipers make a loud thumping noise at both extremes of their travel; and ii) the red light around the start button is very bright to the point of being something of a distraction eveytime I change gear and it becomes visible in my peripheral vision making it appear like a bright red flash each time.

So, anybody else notice/suffer with the same things and shoudl the starter button light even be on? Once the car is started why do I need it to be illuminated? :?

Any thoughts, comments welcome.

Cheers

Can you dim down the dash lights that should do it.
Is the car New?, if not the wipers need adjustment or there is wear in the linkage. :?

Hadn't thought about dimming down the dash lights so just popped back outside to give it a try - can't immediately see how to do this (although I assume it must be possible) so I'll have to have a look in the morning - thanks for the suggestion.

Yes, the car is only ten days old and it doesn't sound like anything is worn, more like they are just coming up against a stop a bit hard.

Thanks for your thoughts.

You need the lights "ON" to adjust the dash illumination, your wipers need adjusting by the sounds of it, are they also hitting the top of the screen?, if so take it back and get it checked. :audibash:

It always irritates me that the ignition button light doesn't come on when you open the door to get in. At night, I like to start the engine before I put the lights on...

Maybe I'm missing something but I have tried turning down dash lights and don't think this is making any difference to the brightness of the start button.

Anybody know if there is a way to turn it down?

After you mentioned it, I went out and played with mine in the dark, mine has dull red glow around the start button, certainly not bright enough to distract me. Did they miss a filter off yours or some such thing.
