Tyre pressure sensors

Post by j964 » Tue Apr 10, 2007 8:54 am

Is it possible to swap the tyre pressure sensors between wheels? I've a spare wheel without one and a damaged wheel with one and would like to move it over.

Dunno - that's an interesting question.

Though the handbook actually recommends swapping the front wheels to the rear, and vice-versa - so I would presume it should automatically "detect" the correct sensors, when you recalibrate the TPMS in the DIS.

BTW, does the DIS actually tell you which particular wheel is going flat, or is it a generic type of "get your fat ar$e out and check all your pressures" :bash: :bigblink:

It's the generic one :?
So make sure you've got a pressure guage in the car as it's not easy to see the flat one with the low profile tyres.

Does this mean you need to install a set onto your track day wheels and tyres?
Never argue with an idiot, they will drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.

The sensors are behind the valve stem. You can swap them easily, but obviously have to remove or break beed on tyre,.Easy for tyre shop. Have had done. Cheers

I always keep my own pressure gauge in the car anyway, and I usually check them every 2 weeks or so.

Do you know what the part number is?

Would rather just put new ones in the trackday wheels and tyres, saves the hassle and they can't cost that much can they?

I will have 5 or so spare TPM sensors available by the end of this week, some have done about 2K miles and some are brand new. Let me know if you are interested in them. they are sensors and valves.
