That self-study guide (what a bloody useful document!) is dated 1/98 so it seems safe to assume all B5s have this but our Ebay cruise installer hints otherwise and that pic I have suggests this too.
Can anyone have their ignition on, engine off and not the EPC warning light showing?
When I can I'll photograph the Audi Driver pic and post it.
That doc from MTM is the same self study program available from the downloads section of RS246.com as it happens.

Personally I'd say the eBay installer hasn't seen enough s4's and doesn't know enough about them. I'm sure he's familiar enough with the process of installing them, FWIW I'd sooner do it myself for a) the hell of it b) cos I'm a tight northener

All B5 S4's have the dual pot pedal arrangement, thus they are all drive by wire - and all S4's had cruise as an option, thus they can all be upgraded to cruise. Some will be missing a wire required but this isn't rocket science to hook up.

IIRC the cruise stalk to buy is less than £60, so you can save yourself £110 and learn something whilst you do it :-)

I think you'll find the Ebay installer is a mate of woody's and has done several S4's recently, I'm also considering getting hime to do mine even though I already have the stalk and loom as he guarentee's his work

Don't get me wrong, I have no problem with the guy - irrespective of whose mate he is - my point is that in this case his ad is wrong / misleading, ALL S4's have EPC.

If you are gonna pay £110 quid for his service, wouldn't you like info he provides to be 100% accurate?

Does this mean that all woody's mates are egg heads and couldn't possibly be wrong? I'll have to become a mate of his, it'll piss the wife right off if I'm always right :-P

Just my two penneth (as they say oop north) ;-)

Just noticed that Awesome GTi do the cruise for 149 fitted. They do the APR chip too (how I found out) which has some nice features, like V-Tune software for your PC - which lets you tweak your own boost for the ECU.......v nice!

Hi,

I can certainly recommend the guy off e-bay. Had this done a couple of weeks back and his work is top quality and he guarantees the work as well. If you live within the M25 the fitting is included in the price and he'll come to you.

I suggest you send him a e-mail with your car details and he should be able to confirm either way.

Regards
