Right so unless i can get a pair of RS4 turbo's at a pretty cheap price it is not going to be worth my while, because i bet they aren't cheap to recondition.
i may as well buy 2 new ones from AMD

think about my offer

tweaky: as I said, I could do it this way: find someone who can trust you and knows you from this board, if he says you're OK, then I send it, you check them and you pay... or send it back

how about that?

Joshie's your man, but I think the AmD conversion is £ 4250 fitted + VAT (that includes downpipes and cats though)

Why to you want to hybrid the turbo's ?

We have already exchanged some PM's on this but in response to the questions about KO4's what happens is that AmD buy brand new KO4's which are then blanced (blueprinted) by Turbo Dynamics. To get them to fit the pipework is modified and downpipes are repaced by the high flow Miltek's. A rempap takes care of the fueling, boost pressure etc.

I would be cautious about fitting KO4's from another source as the bill for failure later is high (engine out, replacement turbos). Going for a package usually means the work is warranted.

I agree with Joshie. If the money isn't issue, go for AMD kit.

The problem with this route is that you will have to do a fair bit of plumbing and re-engineering as the Garrett units are not a straight replacement for the KKK units.

Downpipe and a manifold. A decent exhaust fabricator should be able to manage this.
Its not exactly rocket science. We've made bespoke manifolds before.
A really easy way to do a manifold is get hold of a couple of knackered KKK cores, cut the turbo itself off the manifold, have a garrett flange TIG welded onto this, job done.

I reckon its about time everyone in audi tuning stopped following like sheep and did something different

When you see just how much little space there is in the S4 engine bay then you'll understand what i'm trying to say,and if it was that easy then i'm sure that there would be plenty more Garrett modded S4's on the roads today
