I may be looking at getting an S3 possibly an S4. Now my price bracket will probably allow me to get a higher mileage s3 like these:

Now i have read on here horror stories of turbos etc. What should i look out for with the higher mileage S3? Mileage has never put me off with Audis but i dont want the engine to blow after a week of ownership.
Any advice? Thanks

They seem like good value for that kinda money! I suppose the most common way to check the turbo is to start the car from cold, and run around to the exhaust to see if you get any blue/grey smoke! This may not work if the engine is warm....if you view a car, you could arrive early so they haven't started and stopped the car before you arrive......

30 mins for a turbo?? you serious?s300tna wrote:Dont get to bothered about there are many places doing exchange turbo's from £250. and worest case ebay from time to time have them normally going for as little as £150.
Fitting is easy about 30 minutes.
it took me about 6 hours to change the ko3 on my ibiza cupra for a ko3s
and it had a LOT more room under it, bearing in mind i work from a 2 post ramp, the S3 has the transferbox in the way, the downpipe looks a real pita to remove.
is it really 30 mins? or a few hours

yer im sure it was about long a mate is a vw man he changed the turbo for me wilst i sat in the car reading auto express
maybe 45 minutes but it was'nt that long.
Mind you i guess having ramps and brand new work shop kitted out with nice new tools does help
, as does working on them all day.
If i tried it a home i guess more like 5 days
