Alloy wheels - How wide?

Post by RS SYED » Wed Jun 14, 2006 3:21 pm

Hi ..Iv ordered a set of H&R springs for my cart which should be arriving tommorow. Im looking at a selection of 18" alloys for my car, and was wondering how wide can I go all round. I believe the width of the rims have to be the same all round. Also, would it be better getting 17"s instead of 18"s??

Thanks guys
Shabs

17 is the standard size up to 2003 then some came out with 18's which ever you go for they are both 225's i would not go any wider no point!

I have 18x8.5" front and 18x9.5" rear alloys on my S. Rims are light so there is not that much difference between original S3 alloys since they are heavy as elephant.

Ofcos wider wheel makes the difference, but thats just something one can live with (well, i can!). Also the use (lots of track driving etc...) of the car would make difference when choosing wheels...

19's on our roads  I'd stick with 18's you'll lose a lot of performance with 19's, they're a harsh ride and will flatten in no time on our well kept roads
