wheelarch liner mod

Post by moktoya » Mon Dec 11, 2006 7:45 am

HI, i think some of you have mentioned about a 'wheelarch liner mod' being done to the B5 S4/RS4 to complement bigger barkes and/or Phaeton cooling ducts. Could anyone be kind enough to point me to the thread? Had trouble finding it. Many thx

You've posted in the B7 RS4 forum which might limit your responses...

I tried to fit the Phaeton ducts on my S4 at the weekend. They will fit but need modifying. some parts need cutting off and the holes aren't in the right places for the S4 upright. I beleave the hole centres are OK on an B5 RS4 upright though.

Mark, did you buy the splash plates from the Phaeton too, as you need these - defo no cutting needed, simple bolt-on job (well, the discs need to come off to fit tyhe splash plate IIRC).

thx, i have seen that thread, but within it somebody mentioned about wheelarch liner mod.... i thot this was something like punching a bigger hole in the inner wheelarch, that big dark piece of plastic inside the wheel well, where in the S4 there are already small vents that lets air in from behind the intercoolers. Hope u understand what im referring to. Already ordered Phaeton parts, and am desperate to further improve airflow inside the wheelarch. many thx for help.

PS i thot this was the mod forum, actually meant for it to be in the B5 RS forum so all the gurus can see it

Yes they were the Phaeton splash plates. There were about 6 of us looking at it on Saturday @ the Spanner Sharing Meet. Cutting is defo needed. mainly at the bottom. I need to check the hole centres because this will mean only 2 bolts being used so may line up for those 2.

I searched for the dremmeling the arch liner mod but couldn't find anything also.

The wheel arch mod involves cutting the vents out of the arch and replacing with mesh. Not worth it IMHO.

Do the Pheaton ducts only, and yes the bottom does need cutting. Took me about 1 hour to fit. There's some pics in my gallery.

Could somebody pls confirm if the Phaeton ducts and splashguards have holes that will lineup with RS4 uprights only, but not S4s. If so, what would be the easiest way to make them work on the S4, am sure some of you must have done it on S4s. Thx
