Hello I'm new to this

Post by gjcknocker » Sat Dec 02, 2006 10:42 am

Hello I just joined the other day having spotted the link on another forum and am delighted to be here.I bought my S4 in February and is my first experience of Audi and so far well pleased with it. I have done 6000 miles and the computer says I'm averaging 28+ mpg on super unleaded, so no complaints there, also still have 2 years warranty left and the 1st service not due for a further 12 mths.
Several weeks ago I toyed with changing to an Audi TT ( 6 mths waiting )but with days to go to the hand-over I had an unexpected 500mls journey to go to a funeral and it was during that run that I realised that the S4 was a superb driving machine and quickly changed my mind and so far have not regretted that decision.
One thing I don't like is the S4 alloy wheels so they have been changed to the current RS4 replicas. My wife is not too keen on the Red Nappa Leather but what the hell eh?
Looks like I am unable to download pictures as the limit is 256kb while my pics are 330kb. Any ideas??

Good to see some pics of a B7 for a change! The RS4 reps - they're 18"s aren't they? Did they give you a 19" option? I'd like to see what they'd look like!

Not so keen personally on the leather, but I guess if you're into TTs, it's kinda in keeping with that "look".

That fuel consumption sounds wrong mate, everyone else is managing low 20s, I can just about get your figure cruising at no more than 70 for a good hour....?

Nice car,

likewise I wish I could get 28-mpg, around 20/23mpg rural roads nothing too daft. Tanks lasts around 240/260 miles

Interesting comments guys, obviously the leather is not to eveyone's taste but that was how it came ( and my wife hates it )and I can live with it. The mpg comments are also very interesting.....when I got the car in Feb the computer was showing 23mpg but has increased to 28+ now......again this car is not used on a daiy basis ( 4000mls annually ) and when I take it out I give it a run of 50-100 miles, however I will check it manually for a while and see how it compares to the computer. One thing I'm not convinced about is the Longlife servicing.....I was brought up with cars that had to be serviced at least annually not every 2 years which is what this car will be.

I don't think the servicing is an issue tbh, especially with your mileage - these seem to be very reliable cars, there are very few posts on here with owners' problems. Mine's now just passed the 100k mark  with only a worn alternator bearing costing me much more than normal servicing. The only major niggle for me is the front parking bulbs keep blowing! I must have been through about 10!

The mpg - is it definitely the overall reading you're looking at (2), not trip figure (1)?

yes it's the overall average reading, I seldom bother looking at the trip reading as it varies so much it's almost distracting.

Nice car - good to see another silver one on here too!

That interior colour's not really to my taste (mine is silver), but the quality of the silk nappa leather is first rate.

Good going on the fuel - like most others I'm averaging around 22mpg, but mine's not my daily driver so when I do take it out I favour enjoyment over economy! :FIREdevil:
