S3 remaps

Post by nigw » Sat Sep 30, 2006 9:26 pm

Hi all, just signed up as I'm thinking of buying an S3. I've got an Audi A4 Avant 1.8 20vT for running about in, but am looking for a replacement for my TVR Chimaera (sold about a month ago).... something a bit more understated

Anyway, having now driven an S3 I've decided it is *almost* what I'm looking for - just not quick enough! I assumed they could all be remapped, but reading through the "Almost Finished!!" thread on here there is mention of some S3s not being remappable...... is it possible to tell which ones?

Thanks

S3s not being remappable? Gosh, that's a new one! You can tell whomever has said this he is a plain liar.

Just my 0.02.

Some are harder to remap due to type of ECU used. Pre 2001 tend to be the culprits but all can be remapped/chipped. I have a 2000 with the ECU in question and it can be mapped just needs an extra sensor fitting to monitor fueling for 2-3days and it's only an extra 70quid

I've never had any issues mapping any S3, earlier or later ones!

Try Awesome GTI store speak with Jim Cotton about APR Stage 2 re maps in conjunction with a Milltek Down Pipe sports CAT.
APR can link the software programmes ie Stage 1 95 fuel and 99 Vpower programmes via cruise control if you have it or they can put the stock Cruise stalk on the car.

Brilliant smooth re maps that tend to use sensible boost levels for better longevity of the turbo's. APR are the biggest VAG tuner in the US and they tend to run more timing on their programmes hence ultra smooth maps.

I have the Awesome GTi APR chip on the cruise control. It is switchable between stock (210bhp), high boost programme (257bhp) and V Power (270bhp). Needless to say, it is left on 270bhp ... just incase ;)

When stationery, you hold the cruise button in, then according to how many times the engine management light flashes, depends on which programme is selected. You could prob do this on the move, but not advised given how fast the light flashes on the dash, you would have to take your eyes of the road for too long, never good!

0-62mph is apparently 5.8 seconds.....(IIRC standard is 6.7 seconds)
