my S4...1st impressions!
RE: my S4...1st impressions!
Quite right dummi...
The Fiat being Fwd coupe with 260BHP I think would be a fun challenge even for me with about 340 BHP. No surprise your standard S4 in questionable running state feels a little slow. power to weight on the Fiat would be better than your S4 AND with it only being FWD would be quicker up and running too!
The S4 is not a great revver... peak power is made at about 5k and it soon trails off with these little turbos. Exhaust & gutting pre-cats helps the pull at the topend but these cars are made to be a bit more of a lazy drive.

RE: my S4...1st impressions!
think i will be taking it extremely easy when i have to drive it until I get to MRC for a check up.
Zero, where do you take your motor for servicing?
when I replaced my coupe cat for a bypass it made a HUGE difference to the acceleration, wonder if sports cats are as good as a bypass pipe? theyre certainly not cheap I know that much!

RE: my S4...1st impressions!
Any work is carried out either by local stealers or MRC... MRC being the prefered choice. My brother lives in Banbury so I can make a weekend out of most trips up there. I have to go up there pretty soon, so we could do a convoy trip. Maybe speak this weekend.

Ditto from me Fletchie, I'll be in Newton Abbot on 5/6 Aug, mine is standard on 90K, I'm off for the MRC heathcheck this weekend, so it should be 100% then and running exactly like yours should.ZeroK66 wrote:Fletchie... give me a PM - I live in Exeter and would gladly take you for a spin in my Stage II+ S4 - I am confident this is performing 100%

Guys - we should have a mini-meet in the Devon area that weekend if you are both free?

RE: Re: RE: my S4...1st impressions!
theres definately something wrong with my car, had a job keeping up with a 1.9tdi a4 yesterday on a hill! the car has plenty of torque from 1k to 2.5/3k then I need to change gear. average fuel consumption is 24.5 which was driving dual carriage and a small ammount of town and not even spirited driving air con was also off.
Cant get my obd cable working yet but im hoping it turns up some easy to fix fault!

RE: Re: RE: my S4...1st impressions!
Fletchie... I would advise you NOT to drive her on boost any longer. Sounds like a boost leak to me. If you over spin one of those turbos it will run a bearing and you will have a LARGE bill to worry about
- An MRC Trip sounds urgent! Can have a lookie this weekend if I head your way. I know where the usual failures happen - maybe I can help out.
I would suggest going to the local stealer and ordering up an F-Hose & a Throttle body boot - if they have them in stock you could have them installed this weekend and chances are back up and running. I had my F-Hose split on me and I replaced the TBB just as a matter of course. They are not expensive, get a set of 710n's too - replace your diverter valves while you are at it. MRC can check over the MAF when you take it in.

Info on a get together there... we can build on that

I took the car for a quick run with the diagnostic software running. recorded groups 3 and 5.
My g/s mass air flow never got higher than 176, is this bad or to be expected? Ive been trying to attach the full spread sheet so someone might be able to give some advice but it doesnt seem to want to accept it.
