What do you mean Phil?PhilT wrote:I have the Dunlop D01J 235x40x18 fecking excellent, and the are only directional, so you can get the most out of them
Are you saying you can swap them from one side of the car to the other? If so, thats ideal because the outers always get worn first.
There seem to be two pattern styles, DO1J and DZ02G.

That's exactly itJustinM wrote:Are you saying you can swap them from one side of the car to the other? If so, thats ideal because the outers always get worn first.

Only the D01J's were available when I bought mine, and I sourced them straight from Dunlop Motorsport.

DO1J are going out of production and replaced by DZ02G at around £189.
But Dunlop do a Supersport Race in 255/35/R18 which only £89. http://www.mrtyremotorsport.co.uk/product.asp?id=12
Anyone any comments or experience on these?

RE: Re: RE: Re: RE: Track Day Tyres
Yep, that's what I've got. Mine have been around a bit and started off with JR. They are now coming to the end of their useful life but I have used them at Donnintgon and Croft. They need a fair bit of warming up- 2 laps but then they grip like stink!!! They really make a huge difference to the performance improving my time around Donnington by 4-5 seconds, although I was still learning the track as well at the time. If they really are only £89 that's a bargain. The best I can find DZ02G's for is £155 so when I replace mine later this summer I'll just get another set of Supersport Race. I even drove to Croft and back with them on the car beacuse the weather was fine and it saved carting them in the back and changing them there. They were perfectly civilised but wouldn't have risked it in the rain- not much of the meagre tread left on mine.Anyone any comments or experience on these?
I have a feeling Adam (Jeeves) was getting some for his RS6+ too

RE: Re: RE: Re: RE: Track Day Tyres
Because the Supersport Race have V shaped grooves, are you able to swap wheels from right to left when they get worn on one side of the car?
RE: Re: RE: Re: RE: Track Day Tyres
Nope they are directional 2 set up for one side 2 for the other. They would require a swap of rims to be fitted to the other side of the car. And yes as a result 2 are worn more than the others due to clockwise circuits. With a new set I would have them switched around half way through their life to try and even this up whilst rotating them front to back on the same side each track day. A bit of hassle but half the price on each tyre. You pays your money and . . . . . . .

RE: Re: RE: Re: RE: Track Day Tyres
If you use DO1J 235/40/R18 track tyre. What pressure do you start off with COLD and then what you do set them to HOT.

It's a special offer, so it might be limited supply / limited time?

RE: Re: RE: Re: RE: Re: RE: Track Day Tyres
At the risk of repeating myself, anyone know what pressures COLD and HOT to use with the DO1J 235/40/R18 track tyres?
RE: Re: RE: Re: RE: Re: RE: Track Day Tyres
Not exactly the same tyre or size but minr have been run at 25-32psi cold and have found that around 27/8psi gives the best compromise in handling grip wear etc Hope that helps.

RE: Re: RE: Re: RE: Re: RE: Track Day Tyres
Got me some Pilot Cup-tyres for stock wheels, 235/40-18. Will be tracking these in a week.
Does anyone know what pressure (cold/hot) I should be running?
Any other thing to look out for? Has anyone heat cycled the tyres, or any other running in procedures? Will be driving some 250 km on the motorway to get to track, do they need any other running in?

You saying 27psi cold? that equates to about 34 hot I guess.bakerdcb wrote:Not exactly the same tyre or size but minr have been run at 25-32psi cold and have found that around 27/8psi gives the best compromise in handling grip wear etc Hope that helps.

1 or 2 laps will run them in. What did they cost?Jani wrote:Got me some Pilot Cup-tyres for stock wheels, 235/40-18. Will be tracking these in a week.
Re: RE: Re: RE: Re: RE: Re: RE: Track Day Tyres
Are you sure ? so quickly ? I thought they last like 25 or 30 minuts with the same ammount of grip and efficiencyRS4ever wrote:1 or 2 laps will run them in. What did they cost?Jani wrote:Got me some Pilot Cup-tyres for stock wheels, 235/40-18. Will be tracking these in a week.
