I mean't most chip suppliers (only a couple do AFAIK) don't offer a custom remap service, nothing to do with dyno/road usage. They just don't have the knowledge or ICE emulation kit required for custom tuning. They buy in generic maps or chips and install them.

I also agree with Neil road testing is more real world than dyno testing.

oh i agree with rd testing dnt get me wrong but can you really map a car and know whats happening at let say 120 mph.. i think when MRC get there dyno there results in custom mapping will show..and as for chip suppliers lets face it anyone can supply a chip..even get it installed into an ecu.. i mean just look at mc'cain..

I have had a custom remapp by MRC and im thrlled to bits with it. But i would also say that saying QST has not got the skill or knowledge is a bit harsh i personally rate QST as one of the best if not the best Audi specialist in the country

FWIW, last time I asked Kim about a custom remap, they said that requires flying someone from MTM in Germany to the UK and costs "a lot".

That's what I mean about southern Ireland.

True, but the responsible method is to use a combination of road and RR testing so that it is not necessary to use excessive speeds on the road.

Dippy - Sounds sensible.

We cant be doing 150 miles an hour on the road just to tweak a custome remap at that speed (If its needed) But then again Rolling road wouldnt emulate real life good enough for a propper tweak.

What we need is a track to go out and real time the custom remap on. Then spped isnt an issue.

Silverstone isnt far from MRC. Now theres an idea. lol

Maybe Minhea could comment, but I'd have thought that real-life road driving up to around the max speed limit (you know what I mean ;)) and then the above 100mph on the RR should give you a pretty good custom remap. A remap on Silverstone would be great if that's where you driver every day :)

Last time I hear they soct about a zillion pounds.

Does anyone know of a 4WD rolling road near east london? Need to get my car on one of them

Nearest one i know of is QST.

I was quoted 1500 +vat for a german mtm fella to fly in and map my s4(qst) . my pal paid over 3k for a generic chip and cat back on his rs6. good maybe but extremly expensive. tuning doesn't have to cost the amount we're prepared to pay, sometimes I wonder what my house would look like if I didn't...............managed a big tv though :)

Hi guys,

Just jumping in here to big up MRC once more.

I got my standard S4 about a month ago and was more than pleased with it. It was nicely quicker than the Impreza Turbo that I had before. However I couldn't help thinking that the lump could easily manage some more horsepower without being too stressed. So after a quick look at the forums here I booked it in for a custom remap.

After the initial health checks, customary replacing of the diverter valves, and a small airbox modification, we were out on the road remapping. 2 hours in total and £600 later I was on my way.

I don't have the exact readings but Minhea worked out that after the work my car was producing approx 320bhp & 370lb/ft. I believe him.

The difference is ridiculous, 3rd and 4th gear are insane compared to before. It's truely the best £600 I've ever spent (on a car) ;-).

To give a measure of perfomance now... I found myself behind a Mitsubshi Evo VII FQ-320 on the way home on a dual carriageway. When the lorry that was holding him up at 50mph pulled over we both floored it!

We were both in 3rd gear when we started (I could see when he was changing by the small puff of smoke from the exhaust) and from 50 - 120mph he was going nowhere... even with his closer ratio box and much lighter car. He wasn't happy to say the least, but I was literally laughing at the new found pace of my S4.

I recommend anyone with a standard car to get their ass to Banbury... a.s.a.p.

Thanks MRC!

p.s. The 155 speed limiter has gone too... I can vouch for that.

OOps...!

Nice story, and thumbs up to MRC, but I think they'll be someone along from Crew soon...unless of course this was all conducted on a private road somewhere...?
