Just been in the V8 S4 which seems rather flawed!

Post by lellaS4 » Sat Apr 08, 2006 8:17 pm

Have been out playing with cars and test driven the following:
1 - S Type R
2 - 545i with Active roll bars
3 - VXR Monaro
4 - Litchfield Impreza type 25
5 - and S4 V8
The first three (sorry) were really - really enjoyable to drive  , but I have problem with the V8 S4  .
I can forgive the short travel oversprung Audi suspension and dull steering  when its bolted to a twin turbo engine, and makes the car feel like a 'civilised' Jap Import, but compare the V8 S4 to the first three and it just seems to highlight the Audi flaws.
!!!Oh no I may be jumping ship!!! any one interested in - - -
Imola S4, MTM remap (323bhp before the exhaust was fitted), MTM Gunmetal 19" alloys, Miltek twin exhaust, AWE driveline stabiliser, short shift, and 48000 miles???

Nice motor- love those MTM bimotos.

Cant comment on the NA V8 s4 as iv never driven one but there gonna be different animals. Normally aspirated versus forced induction its horses for courses.

Like you im geting itchy feet and giving some thought to an E39 m5(4.9 litre NA) so can understand the 545. Also been thinking about some more boost with an Evo 6 but the insurance premiums knocked that on the head (+£500 on my S4 premium) - also the Scooby and Evos attract too much of the wrong sort of attention - Chavs and Plod.

If your getting bored id take a leap.

Out of interest, what did you think of the T25?

I went out in a mate's one near-as-dammit one the other day - I thought it was VERY quick, but something about it was a sure-footed or sorted as I would have expected........

Any car fitted with adaptive dampers will feel better (545). Shame its not available on the S4. Personally I think that the S4 is ace, especially with a manual gearbox.

Why don't you try an A8 4.2 petrol? The dampers, steering and autobox on sport might surprise you.
Maserati GranTurismo GTS Auto, S3 Sportback, TT2 3.2 Roadster, Disco3 for the heavy stuff.
