Probably not too bad in reality, assuming there's sufficient space in front of the car to get it straight before threading between the pillars. At least once you've done that the door can be swung open properly without whacking a wall.

My S8 is a tighter fit in my garage - the added inconveniance of walls down both sides makes getting it in and out a 20 minute job! Involves winding windows up/down on remote, a broom to select neutral, pulling the car out by the boot lip - all that before you can even get in it to thread it out past the storage shelves!

To be fair though, if you had that sort of money to spend in the 1st place the thought of giving it a proper ragging on a track would be pretty irresistible!

Daft as it sounds, the tighter the space, the more concentration you apply. My drive runs between the house and a wall for approx 40 feet, is 2m wide, narrowing to 195cm passed the length of the gate. You have to reverse down, as there isn't enough space to turn around. S4 fits down with the drivers' mirror folded with less than two inches each side. S5 Coup I had for two days fitted, but that needed both mirrors in, and brought me out in a cold sweat - it wasn't mine to damage!

I've got a strip of masking tape on the car port floor to put the drivers front and rear tyres parallel alongside. As long as I never cross the masking tape line, I will not hit the wall.

Family Sportback fits fine. The S4 is less than 1cm wider in the wings, and surprisingly marginally narrower including mirrors. Was only after I got the S4 home did I realise how much longer it is! The Sportback can sit far enough forward under the car port that you can open the tailgate and clear the trellis. However, the S4 needs to be parked all the way back to walk around the front.

Been in there since attacked by thieving barstewards - requires a broom to get it out, I kid you not!

Going to say, where are the mirrors. Hope they haven't keyed every panel.

It's out of the garage at the moment getting repaired Luckily by a garage who know their onions!

They chisseled the mirrors off, cracked the drivers window and damaged trim under it, dented the passenger door and scratched it too. All for a few quid's worth of aluminium.....

Cost of parts £1200, claim will be about £2500 all in

I've never tried getting it in the garage with the mirors on! I was in the process of clearing the garage out the weekend this happened

Takes 15 mins to get it out at the moment as I can't open the door with the car all the way in thanks to the bricks sticking out! Have to use a broom to push the brake pedal to get it in neutral before I can manually heave it out enough to get in!!

Since the car went in for repair last week I've cleared the racking out completely so I can hopefully get the car nearer the front of the garage and see if I can get the door open normally.

That's actually the sort of spot I hunt out. Since the pillars there it means the next car is further away and hence reduced door dings. I'd rather trust my own parking ability than the ability of the next car driver to be considerate.

The only thing about that space is it looks like it may be A/C chillers and hence it may get quite dusty there.
