Hi - quick clarification - I just bought a two previous owner car according to the dealer, got the v5 in the post today and on the front it says "number of previous keepers 3"

Which obviously raised an eyebrow - does it mean the obvious or is it including me as the 3rd owner - note the v5s appear to be slightly different format now.

Cheers

A 2 previous owner car is actually a 3 owner car. The current owner is not a previous owner as such.

Therefore your car has now had 4 owners including yourself (3 previous)

When I bought my car, I asked the dealer to tax it for me before I collected it. He did this by registering it in his name. When the V5 arrived at his place a few weeks later he did a second transfer into my name. This makes the V5 look like his has one extra owner that it actually has (it's a shame I guess) but could explain the situation you find yourself in.

The other possibilty is that the dealer lied to you, but I find that very difficult to believe. They tend to be a jolly honest group of individuals. :D

If the previous owner had the V5, I presume it said 'Previous Owners: 2'. I guess that's what he advertised it as.

Now the V5 is in your name it will say 'Previous Owners: 3'

Nothing to worry about.
