Audi Reliabilty

I took a quick look at Audi on the Whatcar surveys and it's pretty bad.
Certain models are in the top 10 for reliable cars, then some are in the top 10 for least. Seems to be quite hit and miss. Anyone have any dire reliability problems.
My Dad's A2 is pretty average to be honest, one of the worst cars he's had though in terms of the car going to the garage.
3 or 4 garage visists later and the engine management light was still on, just as well it was all under warranty. The minute that they stopped using the Audi diagnostic system, the spotted the real fault and fixed it. It's been good since then, but there has been some electrical stuff, like the CD player won't play random between CD's, just on the one CD. The 6 disc in dash unit, can't remember the name.
The other night there the lights went, like, the things are on but the light coming from then doesn't even show unless the object is right in front of them.
Hope they aren't going the way of Merc.
