Bye Bye M3 - Hello A6 Oil Burner

Thats right - your eyes dont decieve you!
I recently sold my Bling mobile and I must admit to feeling a little sad seeing her go.
Despite all the negativity attracted by the car for being too bling and flashy it proved itself to be a real drivers car and I had loads of fun in it as some of you will appreciate at Le mans earlier this year.
But honestly it never inspired the same sort of passion I exprerienced with the S4 and thats the God's honest truth. In addition I only covered about 6500 miles since last September so it was very hard to justify the cost to my good lady. £500 for a new set of tyres, £1000+ for insurance, Petrol and Finance makes is a fair chunk each month before you even start to get into depreciation which I am sorry to say was significant.
At the moment I am planning to get myself a track day only car and a trailer in the future and I'll keep you updated when I have something to report.
Now to change that avatar

Long time no hear matey, hope things are well....
Was indeed fun at LeMans....at least you got chance to see what they are capable of...something which I don't think the majority of M3 drivers can say !
At least you're no longer the 'king of bling' !

Don't know if thats such a good thing - I was getting used to the "handle"
Everything else is fine - just been really busy over the last few months hence not as much involvement as I'd have liked on here

I've been in diesel land for a while now, I know what you mean about the S4 mate, not much is quite so much fun, and mine was standard!! (obviously yours wasn't!!)
Been looking at a few fun cars for the weekend myself, was near to buying a 7 the other week, but I can be so indecisive sometimes. Trackday car would be fun though.

Think its the way to go Dan - a family car and a stripped out road-illegal monster for the track and of course a trailer. Oh yes

Certainly do, great fun in a way no Audi ever could be.

What is the lastest on this ? So many options for sensible money.
I can't say I blame you for letting the car go. Pretty much everything fast costing that amount to buy is an expensive luxury and if the fun can be had elsewhere at a fraction of the cost then it's a no-brainer.

Well as yet I'm managing to save quite a bit - seen a couple of Skylines on ebay with c500Hp which go me thinking and I thought a Lotus Elise may be good fun but haven't decided yet. Also seen a couple of RS4 going through British Car Auctions but I don't know how much they fetched but haven't they held their value well over the years?
And then there's the RS4 due in the not too distant future!!
I think I got rid of the M3 at the right time - there are so many on the market at the moment end even the BWM used retail prices have slumped.

How much are you thinking for the track car Ian? if you don't mind me asking that is.

Yes, limited supply and very practical for the performance they offer. I'm sure an owner will be along in a minute with more details
I expect the RS4 will be the last limited supply Audi RS.

Well low mileage lotus Elise's are going on ebay for about £13K but I'll probably wait a while as winters fast approaching.
Still tempted to get into a used RS4 too!
