Time to decide...

Post by N13LXC » Sun Oct 15, 2017 8:19 am

So have been looking for some time, trying out all options and have narrowed it down to a 6month to 1 year old r8v10 plus, or a brand new 911 GTS - with some nice options...

Have driven both, (v10 plus for the second time yesterday) and realise they both offer different perspectives of going fast...(3.2 vs 3.7 0-62 respectively).

Currently thinking - Porsche for residuals and usability. However v10 plus...ha

Interested to see what others think?

Looking at getting this colour for the GTS (the man said I couldn’t have the GT3 in the pic, or any new gt3 for that matter! Ha)

I'd say 911. For me, with kids, the 2+2 option makes a massive difference. I'm still tempted to lean towards a 991.1 as it's N/A, but all 991.2 owners rave about them.

If you don't need more than 2 seats, the screaming V10 would be very tempting. They're dropping close to 100k now (may not the 1 year old ones).....

R8 V10. I'd possibly go as far as saying that a 1 year old V10 for £100k would depreciate less than a brand new GTS @ £100k. Especially as the next generation '992' 911 cannot be that far away now, test-mule spy-pictures have been doing the rounds for a year or so

GTS highly desirable and no big discounts at Pork as with Audi, they hold their values far far better than R8 across the range.

Next iteration not likely to appear until late next year, early 2020. R8 is no spring chicken now either.

Love how this is sitting at 50/50! And that all the points made are exactly what ive been thinking! My B8 has recently sold, so will be making the decision soon.

I don’t need another car until March, so got plenty options. Anyone aware of any incentive coming on the r8? Any chance of me getting in on a new R8 would possibly tip the balance!

Heart would say V10 - That noise.

Pocket would say 911 - Those residuals.

Nice problem to have

What's wrong with getting both?

Think I'd sway more towards the beetle, v10 sounds lovely but car not as useable as the porker

Useable!?!!?

Come on...neither are 'useable'. Back in the real world; they're just a motoring indulgence.

You're spot on there...I don't even need a car either...I spend about 3 days a month at home just now, it's a proper indulgence, no other way to put it!

my other option is: do nothing now and wait it out until the next thing appears...not sure what that'll be though...

Thanks for the comments and votes, cant say I'm any closer to a decision though! ha

I've had the family plus luggage in mine and one of the guys I go to Le Mans with has had two men plus all their kit and an event shelter. A 911 is more than an indulgence if you want it to be.

Not exactly a proper lads outing then!! Beer and fast cars without a host of women is pretty pointless. Boring.

Oh it’s far from boring and the lack of females is part of the joy. No moaning, no washing up, no dog house.
