Help with 99 Momentum or 98 V Power fuels in Wales?

Post by Lady Penelope » Thu Sep 07, 2017 5:04 pm

Hello,

I am needing to head up to Anglesey (from Oxfordshire) several times over the next few months. I fancy heading up through Wales from the M4 into Snowdonia and to Anglesey.

I am assuming I can fill up with 99 Momentum somewhere like Chepstow or Newport but where are the 98+ fuel locations in North Wales please?

There are a few Tesco Superstores (Porthmadog) and Shell stations but most of the Shell have Google reviews saying no VPower 98.

Any help appreciated so I can plan my fuel stops.

Thanks

On the way over there’s a Shell in Denbigh and another in Betws-y-Coed. There’s also a Tesco with Momentum in Porthmadog. The Shell in Porthmadog doesn’t have V Power Petrol (but does Diesel, oddly).

There’s also a Shell in Menai on Anglesey side near A55, and a Tesco at the other end of the island in Holyhead. Plenty of Shell stations along the A55 North Wales expressway Fromm Colwyn Bay.

I’ve family over in Anglesey and took the RS4 over this weekend for the first time. Loads to choose from! And the route through Snowdonia is very entertaining.

EDIT - if you end up near Chepstow you’ve gone a very odd way. Go up to Shrewsbury and then cut across through Wales from there. My fave route is Oswestry>Llangynog>Bala and then on to Betws-y-Coed and up. If you’ve time for a detour then go Bala>Ffestiniog>Betws-y-Coed and you’ll get to drive THE best road in Wales.

Hi Lady P :bigwave:

You may be aware that I organised the recent RS246 Wales trip, and I have to say that the poster above, jordanbutters, certainly knows what he's talking about.

We did the below route on the saturday afternoon, albeit the opposite direction, and everybody said it was the highlight of the trip, certainly the most fun I've ever had driving a car. The stretch from Ffestiniog to Welshpool is just awesome!

The B4391 & B4397

We also went south on the Sunday, so if you are planning to go right up through Wales let me know and I'll give you another road to try, it might be a bit long to do all in one day but it'll be great fun! :thumb:

The above info is certainly correct, my mother in law lives in Penybontfawr, Llangynog is the next village and I've driven to Blaenau Ffestiniog a couple of times, just not in the RS4 yet!!

Why the hell not! :bash: haha. Amazing roads round there, we caught them on a clear day and it was incredible.

This post has been mega useful too, made me look into what fuels should be used and suffice to say I'll be on vPower for my first full tank!

Fun fact - the other reason that I know the area so well is I’m the production assistant for the photographer who shoots most of Audi’s press images, and we shoot a great deal of them on the Bala to Ffestiniog Road 😁.

So if you see a new model S or RS on those roads at any point following a guy hanging out the back of another car, it might be me driving 🙋🏻‍♂️
