Target Blue Eye

Post by stevo55 » Mon Apr 24, 2017 8:50 pm

Probably been covered in here before but what's the general opinion on TBE-worth the outlay or not fit for purpose?

That was a quick reply! Quick Draw McGraw
What with the new insane speeding fines that came into play today, am thinking everyone is thinking about how to be proactive. If it is a sound bit of kit I expect their sales figures will go through the roof now!

Just done some Googling!... also very interested... but would be interested hearing some owners opinions.

Not many (if any) convincing videos, but they do look like they (kinda) work.

Watched the below video.

https://youtu.be/OYjb44DBbdI

At about a minute in to the above video, it picks up an ambulance on a bridge over the motorway.

Judging this clip only, If it had if been, Traffic Police with laser speed guns, they would have seen you, and probably nailed you before the, Blue Eye even reacted in the video...

Look forward to hearing some fellow owner and their personal views.

All well and good until the Tetra network is switched off in 18 months or so and renders it useless.

Licence runs out in 2020 for airwave, however the wheels in Government turn VERY slowly so I wouldn't be surprised at all if that deadline is pushed way back. Besides-we're talking around £750.00 for the system. Even if you get 18-24 months out of it and then throw it away the money you could potentially be saving under the new fine system means it will pay for itself many many times over.
Just waiting to hear from actual users of the system whether its any good. I'm sure that most members on here will be all ears...

Vodafone have stopped support on a crucial bit of Airwave infrastructure - they're talking about introducing the new ESN within the next 18 months or so because of this.

If it was cheaper I'd buy, unless it costs a fortune to make (doubt it), the sellers need to realise it will be out of date soon. Figure needs to start with 4 not 7....

Yes it's expensive. Yes in theory it becomes irrelevant in possibly 18-24 moths. BUT, with the new fines of a maximum of 175% of your weekly wage it only needs to save you from one of those fines for it to pay for itself and justify the outlay surely? Just like to know how effective it is.

I don't inderstand why people are getting so het up about these new fines. They only apply if you end up in front of a magistrate, how many people here have ended up in the dock for speeding? The fixed penalty system remains unchanged.

If you're doing over 50 in a 30 then you're not really a law abiding motorist are you?

I got pulled at 65 in a 40 (well lit dual carriage way out of town, used to be a 70 but too many old people crashing while crossing or turning around so instead of closing the gaps they dropped the limit) and I'm convinced they waited for me to drop below 66 so no-one had the hassle of a court date.

Indeed. It's just revised guidance for the courts. Fixed penalty notices remain exactly that.
