Feeling disappointed

Hi guys, I've sadly said goodbye to my 700 bhp RS6 but today picked up a standard RS4 B7

Now I know I was power spoiled with the 6, but the 4 has left me feeling a bit disappointed.
It doesn't feel powerful in the slightest, no punch in the chest when you floor it, any suggestions please?
I will add that apart from the power delivery, the car feels fat sportier than the 6, less refined but just feels so much more planted to the road and wants to be driven quick.

Anything will leave you sad after owning that beast.

Get a carbon clean and then a supercharger installed lol

Go find some twisties and have a play. That's where you will see the biggest difference over the 6.

Also, I know what you mean regarding the 4's speed (or lack of) Because it is NA, the power delivery is extremely linear which leads to the sense of not feeling quick. A quick look at the speedo as I'm "'making progress" usually allays my concern as I see it pull through the clock at a decent rate!!!

But as said previously, your old car had possibly double the power so there will be a little bit of difference

I did look at the supercharge option last night, might be the way to go.
The other remap options don't seem to offer too much in the way of horse power gains

Do you get a power surge at 5500 rpm? If not, you may have carbon build up.

Mine was running at 360bhp before I got it sorted!

As Asif mentioned too - when was last carbon clean? Has it had a recent dyno test to check for any other issues?

MRC remap won't give you much power gain, but it gives such a great throttle response in S mode that it's well worth it. The car feels completely different when not in S mode.

At a minimum, MRC can health check it for you on the dyno for about £80

NA is completely different power delivery to a turbo car though. The turbo has that band of massive torque that gives the "kick". The 4.2 V8 is not actually all that torquey - I think my remapped 2.0T A4 had about the same. It may well feel a bit disappointing till you adapt.

Turbochargers always amplify the sensation of speed as does 700bhp though....

If your close to MRC or the like get yourself in for a dyno health check to check airflow and BHP if its standard you'll be lucky to be above 380 and even down at 340 potentially, as above though the cars perform in different ways and where you've lost BHP you will gain in chassis feel and connection in the drive.

Stage 2 map will remove the torque limiter in 1st to 3rd if it's otherwise standard. Check it's healthy first though, as above. There not the quickest cars but they are certainly no slouch. You need to use the revs though rather than ride the wave of torque.

Why did you decide to move from C6 to B7?

I needed a bit more room than my B7 saloon offered. I tried a 700+BHP C6 but felt it lacked too much in the handling department so went back to a B7 again. Albeit an Avant.

I came to rs4 ownership from a 500hp 335i with Quaife diff etc, the b7 bit slower but so much more car to drive on our country roads, I love mine and drive it so much quicker than I did the 335i due to total confidence in handling and grip, get a good twisty road and it's awesome

You are all right, the whole feel of the 4 is just more sports oriented.
It sits firmer on the road, everything feels tighter, it's a much more engaging drive, but it really doesn't feel very quick.
I'm gutted! Lol
I knew there would be a difference but I honestly thought the 4 would perform much better, especially after spending so many years reading about them!

Get the power checked then could have a vacuum leak, carbon build up etc hampering performance!

Take it back / sell it and buy Iain's old car (ibis white 30k mile Avant with TTS supercharger. I think you'd have the best of both worlds. Or.... TTS supercharger group buy??!! :FIREdevil: :smile_smoking: I'm sure I could spend a little time making the man maths work. :drink:

What made you decide to swap anyway?

Just unfortunate timing and circumstances.
Sold our second home to get the money to finish our own building work at home.
Had a few lovely cars over the years but always wanted the rs6.
Bought a lovely one but sadly ran out of funds to finish our home.
Sold it at a bargain price saved 10g for the house and 10g towards a new car, and a week later got approved on a little bit of finance so went and chose a nice RS4.

I agree the RS4 isn't as fast as some cars out there , it just has the look factor .
