Hi everyone,

I've got persistent judder (fairly mild at the moment) caused by a combination of crappy Apec pads and a CV boot split that threw grease all over one of the discs. I've done a lot of very hard braking to try to cure it and no luck so I guess from this point it's only going to get worse.

I've got new discs on their way and EBC yellow stuff pads waiting to go in so I thought I could get my current discs skimmed as they've only done about 8000miles and have very little wear.

Does anyone know of any decent engineering companies in the south that could do this for me? preferably within 50 miles of Southampton.

Hutfields of Botley, I can highly recommend for getting the discs skimmed on car. Takes about an hour so can be done while you wait but they where very busy so is better if you can leave the car with them.

Thanks Lakers, I was looking at getting it done off the car but that looks like a good option, I may go that route.

There is a machine called a Pro Cut Brake Lathe. It is made in the states and is fully automatic.
You remove you wheel and bolt the Pro Cut brake lathe to the drive flange.
It then rotates your wheel and adjusts so that it is perfectly square, small cutting tool then takes a fine cut from both sides of the discs at the same time.
The finish is amazing.
The good thing about this tool is that it balances itself to the drive flange and replaces the wheel whilst the disc is skimmed. This insures the disc is skimmed with the correct torque clamping it to the drive flange.
I use one of these machines at work and they are very good
