Guys, my wife was pulled over by a UK Police Officer for speeding although we have a dash-cam installed which shows she wasn't doing the speed he says. Would you write to the police requesting an apology? It seems in North Wales they pull people over with nice cars just to get the money from the fine (she was in a 13 plate Audi A4 Allroad - not expensive really).

The dash-can shows her speed is around 70 mph (114-119 kph) so 69-73 mph (the dash-cam is in kph, I forgot to change it!) but the police officer says he sped up to 80 mph when he saw her 'flying' past the traffic and that she had caught him up - this is blatantly not true as she'd have to be doing more than 80 mph which she never achieved. If I sent the footage to the local constabulary would they prosecute her for her speed (max 76 mph when she is behind the police car).

Also, I didn't think a single officer could make a passing judgement on a vehicle's speed - I thought it had to be 2 officers or the use of VASCAR or laser?

Nice work TimDogg. I'd be asking for an apology at the very least (although given the way in which the Police apparently work, you'll probably end up on some kind of watch list! ).

Did the officer provide proof of speed, was the car they were in calibrated to provide proof of speed
If not then they can not caution or prosecute (lack of evidence) they can however pull anyone over they like regardless of an offence. If your wife was being prosecuted then yes I would definitely use this video against them for false conviction. The welsh police seem very intense on speeding.

Pretty ridiculous and petty for stopping her, but I wouldn't be sending in the video if it proves she was doing 76mph.

Yeah, maybe I shouldn't send it in but I could argue that the speed is from GPS so not entirely accurate - a lot of variables both sides. I'm now going to get a Power Magic for the BlackVue cam installed as the cam shut-off when she turned the ignition off so we didn't get the conversation unfortunately - the Power Magic will keep the cam on until the battery falls to 11.8v.

I use that road every day and very very rarely see any welsh pork about!
I do however see a few unmarked English pork wagons as merseyside use it as a training ground so watch out for 09 onwards usually vrs's.

There's nothing a foot as she wasn't charged so do not show the police anything, however, I would ask her to go into the local pigsty and ask for the details of the pull and request a statement as to why she was singled out, why other road users were not considered to be pulled over and if her details were recorded (for future use against her for similar offences). Also, ask when the pig's vehicle speedometer was last calibrated.
Only THEN would I weigh up the options; 76mph is still under the 10% uplift allowed for error. But IMO, what you have is evidence that there was no real reason to pullover your wife. A local or national newsagency might be interested, if you're will to make the pigs hurt. I'd go all the way but that's me.‎

She's lucky it wasn't my local boys in blue or they'd have given her a section 59 as that's what they keep slapping me with when I've not actually done anything wrong that they can prosecute for like speeding away from the lights too fast for their liking but not going above the speed limit. Imagine if there was an 80 year old in the car next to me they said, if I didn't have an illegal plate and exhaust I'd have argued that if said therpetical 80 year old was scared of cars driving below the speed limit then they shouldn't be driving in he first place and are a bigger threat to other road users than I was but for the sake of another section 59 I kept quiet.

Answer: Then the 80 year old would not have seen, nor experienced anything illegal. The highway code applies to all road users regardless of age. The only 'vulnerable' road users to be considered are pedestrians and cyclists. There is no consideration for the aged or infirm, I'm not certain hand-controls should be considered by other road users.

I am not sure if this is serious but if no ticket was issued just let it go, she was speeding and you will be passing proof as such. Delete the video and forget about it

IMO that looked like they were bored and needed some boxes to tick for 'keeping Wales safe' or some other bull.

I don't get it either. She was pulled over for speeding, you yourself have proof she was speeding. She wasn't done for speeding, yet you want to argue it. Yeah, he got the speed incorrect, but he got the offence correct.
