yep, I guess its been monitored for a while.
apparently, it was found parked up in a street somewhere although the story ive been told has changed a number of times so not 100%.
it could well be a target again - I've now got some CCTV so hopefully that will act as a deterrent in the future...
Regarding the keys, I'll have to get another one cut & coded by Audi. When they sync it with the car, they will have to remove the stolen one. Each key must have its own unique identifier that's 'paired' with the car. Suppose it could physically be broken into again but not started with the old key...

Cheers
Mike

Ah i understand Mike, as for the key issue i'd honestly go down the route of new door locks, as if they are able to get into the car they could take the handbrake off and push the car onto a trailer or similar.
They could also take any personal posesions.
If Audi will gurantee that the cant open the door or anything like that then thats fine!

Speaking of keys, i need to find out how to code my new key.

yep, I agree with what you're saying and its something that hadn't crossed my mind!! I'll follow it up when required.
I had to have a key done for mine when I bought the car a few months ago. I was advised by an auto electrician that you're better off letting Audi do it as its quite common for the system to be messed up if anything goes wrong.
I paid approx. £200 for them to supply and code the key. Took a few weeks to arrive as it had to come from Germany..

quick update for those who might be interested...
the car hopefully got picked up yesterday, if not, today...from the police compound then its going to an approved repair centre for locks etc...
an engineer is going to call after they've had a look at the car to discuss what needs doing,,,
now..apart from any obvious damage, what should i be asking them to check?
i'll check the wheels for anything coz they were perfect last time i saw the car but is there any obvious areas i can look for damage thats not visible, before i get the car back?

any comments/advice much appreciated

thanks

Mike

I'd want pads replacing, check for under damage, any clutch issues like mentioned is a good call, i'd want everything i could get, tyres, pads, oil and filter... anything that you can say "well they werent that worn when i had" is worth a try.

Cheers for the relies fellas
I managed to see my car earlier although it was dark.
It looked good with no plates on it!
Gonna go and see them again tomorrow afternoon when it's light and get it up on the ramps to do what checking I can.
Looks like minor scratches at the moment. Wheels haven't been damaged but I've been assured we'll have a walk through tomoz.
I've got my checklist...

Sounds promising, do they have a 2 post lift by any chance? it'd be an easy way to check for buckled wheels without taking all the wheels off.

Mustn't have been nice seeing your pride and joy sat in a compound though :(

yep, its a large modern repair centre so they have everything required.
the wheels will be coming off anyway and checked, all alignment / balancing etc checked/corrected.
I'll know more later on...

Mixed emotions really when I saw it... sad to see it just sat there still dusty from the forensics etc but happy its all in one piece and only minor scratches...

Well...
I picked it up on Wednesday and had a good look around it and it all looked fine. Everything I went through with the estimator regarding the bodywork etc had been done.
Drove off in it and the engine management light was on. Took it back and waited for an hour or so while they diagnosed it. It's throwing an error to do with compression I think he said.
Wasnt in the mood for discussions so left it with them to look at. So now I'm in a courtesy car again for I dont know how long!!!
Not great...

I'm sure the insurance co. will write it off before that happens...
I've asked the Shop to supply me the error code(s) so I can do some investigations of my own...
