What about the impact on your 'investment' when the car was in x condition before the thief and is now a stolen recovered car? We've seen the values of cat d cars due to seats and steering wheel thefts.

My only concern would be wheels and suspension. Both of which can be checked and sorted if needs be.
Realistically you're not going to damage one of these engines by ragging it. And a thief wouldn't be so used to the power of the car so I doubt they'd even 'rag it' as hard as one of us would anyway.

Glad it got found anyway! :jump_clap:
give me yours for 6hrs and i bet after im finished the engine will be smoking like a oil burner and cluncking like a bag of spanners..when it not your own you go beyond the extreme...i take it you never had a hired car before :biggrin3:

I've had mine on track loads and thrashed it to within an inch of its life so I doubt you could be harsher. Plus its got fresh motul 300v. I honestly don't think you could hurt it. They're incredibly well built engines.

I do get your point tho. But as long as it's checked over thoroughly and runs and drives like it did then I'd just be happy to have it back. No point worrying about what it might have gone through.

Buckled wheels would be my no. 1 concern.

Its a cat d anyway as the seats were previously taken... I'll ask a friend to hpi check it in a week or 2 and see what comes back...

And the RS5 has also been found :)
The tracker was reactivated and the police got a hit on it...

No news on mine yet.
I've not really had the full story of how its been picked up yet...
its in a compound somewhere in Merseyside and its locked up..
And me being me and trying to get things moving on, sent the log book, spare key etc etc to the insurance co. on Wednesday before it was found.
They're having to send the key back now so the police can get access to the car.
Then forensics will need to do their thing, then the insurance co. will need to send an engineer to it and see whats what.
I was hoping for an update this afternoon but thats looking unlikely. Might ring CID shortly....

finally found out where my car's been recovered to!
going to have a look in the next hour or two before forensics / insurance have a look.

quick bit of advice if anyone's unfortunate to go through this - dont send log books, spare keys off to the insurance co. until a few days after the car's gone missing. i was keen to get on with the claim and sent everything off to the other end of the country only a couple of hours before my car was found... its ended up delaying things by a good few days.

Unless the Insurance Company pay out, i don't believe this incident would ever be logged as stolen recovered.

not managed to see it yet and the police cant be convinced to send any photos to me as its on false plates?!?!
the main set of keys are still missing. the spare set should be with the police compound today as insurance co. sent them yesterday.
I've been told there's just scratches on it but i'll wait and see. the info. I've been given over the last week hasn't really been too comprehensive or accurate...

False plates, i wonder if it was stolen to order then? i mean if they broke into your house stole your keys they must have been watching you moves, seeing where you left the keys your times in and out of the house etc.
Pretty scary really.
My question is if you do get it back then isnt it just going to be a target again? unless you change your habits keep your keys on you and stuff, but still i dont know i'd rather get rid have something scrap for a while so your house disappears of radar so to speak.
You'll also need new locks/ingition barall etc if they still have a key?

Was the car found abandoned or was it left to be used again at a later date?

Fingers crossed for you buddy pretty upsetting.
