Engine carbon clean honest review

I run the same process using the approved and supported equipment and procedure as the other approved agents. Before I got involved personally with it I drove my S5 down to the Essex franchise to be done.

Although I was on the stand on Sunday it was actually the agents from South Wales and Yorkshire performing the cleans.

Word of warning though. Make sure you use an approved, supported agent from the list - look out for the cog symbol.

I've placed an inquiry to see if they have anyone that can get to me in Surrey...will probably get the Golf GTi done as well since that has never had a carbon clean.

Am i Wright in thinking that the Carbon clean system will clean the valves as it is connected to the intake system? The reason i ask is the terraclean system uses the fuel system to supposedly clean all carbon deposits but the fuel Is injected into the cylinder not from the valves and this is where there is a significant carbon build up.

Has anyone done a rolling road before and after to confirm any gains ?

I had a terraclean done before I had a full carbon clean done by MRC and there was a noticeable difference in throttle response and a keenness to the engine (I'm not talking major bhp gains) but it was or seemed to be a little quicker.

You are right - as it goes in the air intake (after MAF sensor if present) then it will clean downstream of there - turbo, valves on direct injection, etc.

See here for dyno figures (although the after figures showing the recovered power/torque suffered slightly due to hotter temps).

£80 seems to good to be true for this type of service?

MRC are charging 5x the amount... I'd be keen to know the differences in process and results?

An MRC clean is going to be a lot more thorough, as they're physically accessing the intake and valves and mechanically cleaning the deposits off.

Only for the carbon to just build up again.

If this hydrogen method gives even half the results, at a sixth of the price of a basic MRC clean, I'll be happy.

Both my cars booked in for a week on Saturday. May try to log air flow before and after as Mike did, to see if I can document any difference.

I think the only way that this technique will prove to people what it does is if there are before and after pics of the intake and valves. I for one can tell a difference on my car so I know it's done something, for this amount of money and time it's certainly something I'd consider every year

Yep, more details the better from those having it done. ie. Age, mileage of the car & before/after figures if possible. And any other feedback
