Correct, was being driven by an experienced executive hire driver the other day and we were chatting about speeding and traffic cops, he told me a tale about somebody who complained about their treatment by the police and pretty much got stopped by the local traffic police everytime they were spotted on the road for the next three months !

Craig, ads and all, solid advice - I'll let it go. The feds up here are notorious for capitalising on minor indiscretions that would be otherwise be overlooked and seeing as I'm running a sudo-German plate and a non-res Milltek maybe I'll keep quiet.

Incidentally, my sister who is also 5-0, says that if the officer admitted to speeding at 80 mph, which he did, without the lights on he has incriminated himself - just one to tuck away for next time.

However - Good advice all, I'll walk from this.

Jeeezus!!!
Do cops STILL use that line???
I had to do 90 to catch up with you!

Well yes.... You were stationary....
I was doing 70.... To catch up with me within a mile, you'd have to be doing 95mph! It's SIMPLE MATHS!!!
I've finally got my head together but now my body is falling apart!

If not then they can not caution or prosecute (lack of evidence)
they can however pull anyone over they like regardless of an offence. If your wife was being prosecuted then yes I would definitely use this video against them for false conviction. The welsh police seem very intense on speeding.
Sorry - not true. I was hauled to court on a 95mph in 60mph 'charge' - single crewed officer, no video evidence (as I was supposedly keeping pace with him so was behind him). His statement stated that the speedo was calibrated 4 days after the event. Despite the flimsy evidence the CPS decided to pursue it to court. In court I eventually took 3 points for 70 in a 60 to save a potential ban / loss of job (if the magistrates had found against me that's what I was looking at - I could have fought it, but wasn't prepared to take that risk). I wasn't given a NIP at the side of the road - he established who I was and where I lived then dropped a NIP through the door 4 days later......

Am I bitter? Yes. More so because I work for the fecking Police......

To the OP - I'd say let it lie - pursuing a complaint for what is effectively a warning might cause more issues, as others have said.

Check section 87 of the road traffic act.
Police, fire and ambulance can break pretty much any traffic law if operationally required, the driver suitably trained and in a safe manner. They would need to justify it though.
In this case catching up to a speeding car could easily be used so I don't think you'll get them on that.

Also, ask when the pig's vehicle speedometer was last calibrated.
Only THEN would I weigh up the options; 76mph is still under the 10% uplift allowed for error. But IMO, what you have is evidence that there was no real reason to pullover your wife. A local or national newsagency might be interested, if you're will to make the pigs hurt. I'd go all the way but that's me.‎
Technically there is zero uplift for error. You can be legitimately process cured for 1mph over the posted limit.
The reason they don't is more operationally. It would cause huge paperwork, people would contest it, so just makes things easier to go for people comfortably over the limit. If you admit 76 then you could be done

Yes, you're right but bring it in and you could pissoff the right/wrong judge as it isn't proportional for the system (as you've mentioned).
I mention it as I'd read some time ago (about a year) that GATSO/SPECS were set to trigger at 10%,so, 33 in 30, 55 in 50, 77 in 70 and what even - that was some serious Arthur for me, considering just how much beer I've drunk today.
No matter where you go, there you are.
