After my B8 RS4 getting nicked on Nov 7th I should finally get it back next next week and wanted (and required to) beef up security.

I fully understand most wil not want to put their security on a public forum so please PM me any response if not comfortable

I am going to get a stoplock Pro as visual deterrent (this worked for someone up my road who also go broken into for keys, they couldn't get the lock off so left 2 other houses in the area have stoplocks (Modded M4 and M2) have video's of the little ****'s scoping the cars but didn't get hit.

Has anyone got any recommendations based on experience (rather than sales patter) to protect pride and Joy, I am not sure if it is worth getting an add on alarm to the Factory CAT1 as I have set it off before and the siren is pathetic but in the end who reacts to a car alarm these days?

Has any one tried one of these CAT1 alarms as I don't want is a chunky remote added to my keys so it need to be integrated into the factory system.

I need Thatcham CAT 5 or S5 tracker integration to keep the insurance below the £1K mark after the claim but again would like to hear actual experiences on their installation/effectiveness/service!

I don't want a Ghost Immobilizer as I don't want the turds to try and come and get me to start it in the middle of the night if they try again.

Pandora doesn't seem to offer what i really need (plus have see reports not actually that secure) but I am open to have my mind changed

Clifford & Toad both names from back in the day (had a Concept on my 205 GTI in 1998) are they still up there?

Also any recommended installers in SE London/North Kent, I don't see may that instill confidence via Google

Where did you see reports on the pandora? I have one of there system and cant see how it could be bypassed, at least the high end ones

Having been a victim of vehicle crime before I would say don’t get too hung up on high speed tech solutions. Systems can fail or get engineered around by clever criminals.
Best solutions in my opinion are a good mixture of physical and tech security. There are some free ‘quick wins’ you can carry out such as positioning your car as close to a solid object and turning your wheels in (to deter against wheel theft), block it in by other vehicles/objects etc. Disklok etc plus some tech measures. Basically make it as much of a pain in the ar5e to steal as you can so it deters scrotes who go and pick an easier target. Don’t over rely on CCTV as unless you are monitoring it all the time (and ‘alarm/alert fatigue’ is a real thing) then all you will get is the opportunity to replay your car getting broken into/nicked again and again.

Get a couple of Dobermans, train them to kill with sounds of a car being tampered with as you feed them (add pigs blood and put food on human dummies)

Get a shotgun/ and or assault weapons,claymores good but will likely damage your property too

Lobby your MP to bring back hanging, preferably in public

Lobby your MP for Middle Eastern style chopping off hands for thieves

Looked into this last year. I agree with dono301.
But just wanted a extra level of security for not too much money.
On the basis that if thieves are adamant that they are going to steal your car. In the end they will get it.
So I opted for a “back to you” tracker.
Cost about £180 and no subscription charges.
Used it for some time now and very happy with it.

I use a Disklok, clumsy but effective enough. Always garaged at home, diskloked when out. There are a few other little things as well along the lines mentioned above about just keeping away from the high tech and adding obstacles. A really well fitted tracker is an option that appeals but there is always devil in the detail there.

What does interest me is the oft repeated references on here and other sites about people breaking into houses to steal keys or get you to start your car in the middle of the night! In general, are houses that easy to break into????? I can comfortably say that is not something that is an issue with me. You'd need hydraulic assistance and a truck and it would be bloody noisy and take a little time. Surely that is a component of your car security and probably needs addressing every bit as much as the car component.

For complete peace of mind when you are asleep or not using the car for a while, i'd recommend a steering wheel lock too. Far cheaper than an aftermarket alarm and more of a deterrent.

Another thumbs up for the Disklok - as mentioned above, it's a bit big and pain to store but the best and police approved (apparently).
