Post by Grizwold » Mon Oct 17, 2016 6:52 pm

After hearing some of the cars at Combe ...
Thinking of getting silencers removed from exhaust
( the two after manifold down pipe )
Spoke to a fabricator today & over the phone he quoted
£250 ish plus vat .
This is the 1st one I tried as local

First q
Is this about right price wise.
& Will it get if any more Bhp .

Thanks

No more power, they are just silencers. But make sure they are removing the right thing. You should be removing the centre resonator which is a single box that both exhausts go into.

£250 plus vat is at the higher end but if you are happy with their quality and the price then it's not extortionate. I'd expect about £200 all in for a decent job.

Do you mean 400cel cats? If that's what you removing than yes. Extra power + more sound but to get optimal Power car needs remap.
Also price sounds very reasonable but make sure they don't start charging you extras like snapped bolts etc..

Hi no not cats , centre silencer under seats which the two down pipes
Come into .
Another question do the exhausts need balancing ?
The original plan was to remove silencer and replace
With two straight pieces of stainless ,doing some
Research was looking
At getting a H pipe which is £380 plus vat.
# 1 is a H pipe necessary ? ( for balance )
# 2 what are you guys running ( silencer removal )
# 3 what are your thoughts on price ?

Btw it's infinity exhausts Bristol
Thanks in advance

I was at combe black RS4 avant, yes another one,i run no cats,no pre cats, and no centre box and flaps always open i had my centre box and cats removed first at pipeworx in ormskirk they only do exhausts and i cant recomend them enough great set of guys very good .Pipe that replaces cats is interchangeable so they can be fitted back at any time if you dont have a friendly M O T guy :nodder: .this set up sounded lovely, then i had pre cats removed and found that it sounded very different at lower revs lost its deep rumble at low speed cant quite understand this but then sounds more raspy at higher revs quite loud on start up but as soon as she warms up note changes (see you tube audi RS4 B7 no cats start up from cold)still happy with sound and still looks good also saves a fortune on miltek prices.I had management light come on every now and again but no code reader £5000 grand snap on or £200 cheap one could find any fault codes and only way i could get it off was disconecting battery.i then had to recode keys every time very anoying but the remap has sorted that out.Keep your flaps and nodowt it would sound quieter my street has got to know i have a few noisy cars etc my fireblade had a full Akrapovic exhaust .hope this helps
