Re: ring trip
the thing is am not going there to go balls out and ruin the experiance for myself or my boy or even kill the car, but i want to drive a bit of motorsports history
so 3rd party is covered and just dont crash
id guess tho the best thing would be a recovery service?

Re: ring trip
There a lidl just down the road from the adanua exit on the track. And there is always smashed cars on the car park there waiting for recovery. It must just be a huge coincidence that so many people crash there and so close to the track
but your insurance would cover you there lol

Re: ring trip
Recovery service is useful
I blew a turbo on the ring, had to get recovered off (£200 thank you) a luckily paid £17 for weekend euro breakdown cover and that repatriated me car back to the UK.

Re: ring trip
You'll find you couldn't go balls out. The track is very complex as its blind through a lot of it. So you'll be taken by cars that know the track with a closing speed of 50mph+. Simply because they know the blind bend is 90 when it looks like 40 to the first timer. And that's cool! It's part of it. I got done by a track prepped corsa in the corners once, I was actually well impressed and when the track opened I made certain to take him using the power! I must have finished 1 corner ahead of him 15km later! He knew the track and he didn't back of for anything! A 1l corsa verse a 3.6 Porsche! The corsa was cooler!boombastik wrote:the thing is am not going there to go balls out and ruin the experiance for myself or my boy or even kill the car, but i want to drive a bit of motorsports history

It's a brilliant place; but be realistic and don't try to keep up with the nuts German played gt3rs. A) knows the place b) he's prepared to total that car and his insurance will it. Are you?

Last years best was 08:30 BTG in the RS4, but I'm more proud of a 09:23 in the wet. (I love driving the ring in the rain as it's so much quieter and you learn so much more).
I'll be there on the 6th (the whole easter weekend actually) - either in my new car if I have it by then, or the RS4 again if it's not sold, plus with a mate in his S3.
If it's your first trip, make a conscious effort to not time yourself regardless of the temptation. The track was designed and built to catch you out - what looks like an opening slow corner rapidly turns into a near death experience

You'll be tired after a couple of laps - do two and come off to give yourself (and the car) a break, have some food, walk around, then maybe go back on for another couple in the afternoon. Don't try to cram in 10 laps in a day as (especially on the easter weekend!) it'll be too busy and you'll just get frustrated. Take it real steady and you'll have the itch so bad you'll be back again a few months later

ADAC cover is advisable if you go a lot. You can refuse the €250 ring recovery lorry and elect for ADAC recovery (I have it but have never used it). They can also repatriate to the UK and provide European Breakdown cover too.
Enjoy it!

I'll miss you by a week then. I would have went on the Easter Monday holiday but I know it's going to be busy and for my first time I would like it to be quieter.RossDagley wrote:I go several times a year and have done for some time.boombastik wrote:update with this

Re: ring trip
If you go on Easter Sunday then go very early. This is the busiest weekend for the Germans and you will see a lot of fantastic cars and experience a great atmosphere. Don't worry about driving round the ring, just take it easy and keep you wits about you. It's very exciting and you'll be amazed once you've completed your 1st lap. Go to the large viewing areas too. Come out of the ring, go right, right again, under the bridge and left, 1st left and drive down the rd for about a mile. You will see the ring on the left. There is a massive viewing area on one of the best corners. You'll see transit vans with ladders on the top, coaches, 2CVs Porsche GT3 RS's sucking in the air through their induction, the ring mini overtaking everyone, the ring Taxi show boating and on and on!
I love the place.

I love the place.
