MRC dec...

Post by Cp rs4 » Sat Nov 15, 2014 10:43 am

Morning all, got the rs4 booked into MRC in december for the big service.
Was thinking while it is there is it worth having the remap done? Car is currently standard with the exception of have a milltek exhaust.
I see they do a stage 1 for 550 or a stage 2 for 650, any advice welcome......

Would it be better to have a carbon clean instead.....

Car is on 47k miles at the mo.

Cheers

Errrrrrrrm, perhaps it might have been a better idea to put this in the RS4 B7 section on here chap? It is hardly a quiet forum.

That's the price not the power.

I'd go remap over decode all day long. The decode might give you more power on paper but in 6 months it'll be coked up again. At least with the remap the difference is permanent.

I have the very same dilemma. Slightly higher and on 62000 so a carbon clean might be on the cards. Nice £1000 just for starters. I personally can't see a re-map doing much at all. I may stand corrected but it's hardly a case of cranking boost pressure up. I would expect gains to be minimal but I have no first hand experience. Iirc, you need better flowing cats or no cats for stage 2. Then there is the mot each year to consider and how the car will respond without them. I am a little reluctant to take this route but wouldn't mind squeezing out every bit I can from it because I can't justify 15k plus for a charger.
