Don't let bird poo dry on car
Don't let bird poo dry on car
Hi all,
Just returned from a 3 week cruise.
Left the car at Southampton while we were away. On return found two bird poo's on rear quarter.
Have had time to clean and polish car this morning, but these will not shift.
Tried all sorts but can't move it, any ideas?
Jay.

Sorry mate but that is a job for a detailer. Bird dump is not good at all.
Think Russ in the detailing section is just around the corner from you!

Cheers Chunky,
Russ details the car anyway, I have text him this morning.
Can't believe how bad it is, how do you send a bill to a seagull?

Re: Don't let bird poo dry on car
Forgive me from stating the obvious, but if the poo has eaten and damaged the lacquer, you are basically going to have to remove the top layer of the damaged lacquer to remove the mark. As above, not an easy fix!
Not sure what you have in your car cleaning cupboard, something like SRP or the old Meguiars stage 1 and lots of elbow grease would be what I'd try first, but tbh you will probably need something more abrasive if its been baking in the sun for three weeks

If Russ looks after his motor anyway then it's in very good hands.
I would be surprised if srp would shift it by hand.

Re: Don't let bird poo dry on car
Hi,
I have a few bits I could try, I'm just not keen on creating a bigger problem by using abrasive product in one area.
Russ has been in touch and it will be sorted soon.
I thought I would just wipe over it with some Autoglym bird poo wipes and it would be gone. How wrong I was, thanks for your input guys.
Jay.

Re: Don't let bird poo dry on car
If only life was that simple! You've removed the bird poo, but unfortunately the etched surface lacquer isn't so easy!
Russ as in Russ at Reflectology? He'll sort you out!

Had the same problem on our car and never managed to get rid of it. I used quite abrasive polishes, but the bird poo marks remained on the car.

The amount of top coat on Audi's is immence, it'll come out with some persuasion.
If you fancy a trip to Leeds, I'll have a look at it mate. Have to be an evening or weekend though.
