I'm a bit late coming into this - but - we had this conversation on Wednesday at club meet - i am looking to change also after November as my three years are then up and I dont have a clue either
Personally I am leaning to a SL500 or might be tempted into a SL55 AMG if the residuals will hold
Trouble with them is they are two a penny round here already and are driven to Tesco's (sorry i mean't to say Waitrose) by blondes with brown highlights close to the scalp (should suit Clare then)

How about a C32 AMG (saloon or estate)

I think that we have been spoilt too much

Still theres always the Chopper

What's behind this assertion?
The problem with another RS4 is that when I com eround to replace mine in a years time is that they will be 3 years + old, and at that age, even low mileage ones tend to break....so lets keep the ideas coming

I intend to keep my RS4! Do I need to rethink

I thought about that for the RS..

trouble is that I don't have a spare £60,000 sitting in the bank.. and if I Was to pay myself that amount from the business I would be hit at 40% anyway..
I though about paying myself a dividend of £60,000 but I would have to give other shareholders an equal amount dependant on their holdings so it's out of the question really...

I asked the accountant if the business could sell me the RS6 for £2.50 because I though a business could sell an item at any price but apparatnly that is fraud!

any other way?

Dave

Ok

Set up another company and sell your existing company to it for say £1000000, you wont pay tax on the money you pay out for the compnay over 3 years an that can be your income, estimated to save you £90k a year

Loop hole in taxation

Use this income as a way to fund the RS6 privately
Can't beat a bit of boost!

I will have the same dilema within the next 12 months - fortunately I live in Germany so get the new releases first. Currently on my shortlist would be:

- New BMW M5 (V10 yum yum)
- Merc E55 AMG, I knows its a bit of an old mans car but seriously quick.
- S4 (nuff said)

However, I might just hang on until there's news of the new RS4 or go completely bananas and get a 911 turbo (and buy the misses an A4 Tdi avant)

996 Turbo and A4 Avant TdI, that's what we call "unbundling"... you are basically separating the carosserie from the "inner life" of the RS4. Nice idea.
d.
RS4-ever

- RS4 B5, 2001, avus, stock but basically all options (former mileage eater, now leisure usage only)
- A4 3.0 Avant, 2002, silver (current mileage eater)
- Z3 3.0 roadster, 2003, silver (missus car)

I would choose m5 or s4. But not the e55 . I don't like Mercedes.

Is it just me, or is an SL55 WAY over the aforementioned £50k budget?! They're about 90k!!! To be honest, for fifty big ones, I'd be thinking seriously about a TVR Cerbera 4.5 with the Red Rose conversion done. We're talking 500hp when it loosens up, 1100kg. That is a recipe for fast. It's also very rare, as I think there are only 3 or 4 in existence. I know there's the practicality issue, but if you really are that fussed, buy a year old Cerbera 4.5, and spend the other 10k on a second hand A4 avant or whatever. I dunno, but seriously, if you want a fast track car that turns heads, take a test drive in a Cerbera, especially the 4.5.

Rock on

Do what I've done. gone the 2-seater. Goes well with the RS and is a hell of a lot of fun to drive even tho it isn't as fast as the wagon. Always liked my cars loud too and I should be been careful what I wished for. This thing has Kida Special sports exhaust which makes it sound like it was fit for Imola not the street. Should be in yr target range. Keep the RS.

Ok Guys - thanks for all the suggestions. Its been a while since i posted this, but I have been looking around.

I looked at the E55AMG, its in the budget (Just) but i'm not old enough to drive it. Its quite quick, but its huge - not really a sports car.

I thought at looking a Ferrari, but really they are all 2 seaters, and I need four. Not over impressed with the trim, its all a bit ill fitting.

I went to the Porsche dealer, who of course looked down their nose at me, but the 911 C4 is quite nice, but tiny rear seats, and a bland interior. Doing 55k miles per year, you want to feel to be in a nice place.

They had a new Cayenne there - ugly as sin, and huge. Its quick - especially the turbo version, but it isn't a sports car, whatever the porsche salesman tells you.

I dropped into maranello the other day and looked at the new masarati coupe - a really nice car - 4 seats, even adults can sit in, comparable figures to the RS4 (except boot space) and beautiful inside. I didn't get a chance to drive it, but am going back in the next two weeks to try. Question of course is, will it last for 2 or 3 years and 100k+. Also what will happen to the residual?

Finally, I borrowed a new S4 for the day. Its quite quick, bit like an overgrown diesel, but oh so boring. Crap brakes, bland interior, and a Eurobox looking exterior...No thanks.

What have Audi done...boring S4, and destroyed the RS6 by putting in an auto box. Wake up audi, you might have some customers left, even after 20+ wheels

Jon

PS: Maybe I should just get a Mondeo Diesel and put the extra £10k+ a year I save towards a better helicopter.

Hi Jon

I am in the same boat - nothing compares was sorely tempted by a 550 Marenello but it would just end up in the garage not being used
have just got the Brabus catalogue for the SL but they also do horney things to a 'C' class estate try www.brabus.co.uk

Hopefully we will meet up next month at the party

Hi Jon,

Interested in your comments re. the new S4. I'm off to try this weekend and wondered why you felt the brakes were so poor.

I used to complain about the std brakes on my M3 all the time and I was never happy with them. Obviously it's an important part of what makes a good performance car these days....
