Intermittent fault on dash

Post by MarkE70 » Wed Sep 27, 2023 1:54 pm

I'm getting an intermittent fault on the dash after i start the car up. It doesn't happen often but when it does i get the following message on my dash on startup after i've put in the code for the ghost. As the message says the start stop function is unavailable with the message on the dash. Once ive completed my journey parked up and locked up the car say at work, i will go back to it at the end of the day or even before and the fault is gone from the dash. So start stop works fine, and i can have no issues for a few weeks. Then i'll get the same message again.

As i mentioned my car has a ghost immobiliser fitted. Audi have suggested that it could be the ghost that's causing it but they are not 100% sure. It is booked in for an Audi diagnostics check up next month. Its so intermittent and its starting to get on my nerves now.
Just wondered if anyone else on here had suffered with a similar problem or might be able to throw some light on the problem.
Thanks

I had this come up on my dash when I had my ghost fitted a few weeks ago. I took it back to the ghost installer and they loaded a different software to the ghost, and that resolved this.

I had a feeling it might be to do with the ghost, I'll reach out to them and ask them to take a look.
Thanks for the comment

Oddly I had exactly the same happen to me on Monday. Drove about 120 miles and stopped for coffee break. Came back to car and exactly the same fault came up. Got out of car, locked and unlocked, and car re-started fine (no fault) though the little tell-tale was still on showing there had been a fault.

Next morning fault and telltale were gone.

But... I don't have a Ghost.... unless I've been haunted! :bigblink:

Check your battery voltage. How old is the car battery? Has the car been standing & not run for sometime? Lower ambient temps also affect battery performance.
