Hi,
Over the last few days, I have had a series of warnings which started with a yellow Air Suspension Fault and various related things, like the ACC and Brake Guard disabled. I had just completed a rather wet long distance drive and put it down to water in the electrics somewhere.

The next day, the red Air Suspension Warning came on and I could hear the car rubbing its wheels in the arches. I have a CETE module and have managed to lift the car up again, but the amber fault keeps coming back. The CETE module is in bypass mode, so I don't believe that it is causing the issue.

A VCDS scan reveals the following, which suggests a mechanical sensor fault. It is likely to be water in the plug (and how easy is it to check?), or is it more likely to be an actual faulty sensor? It's booked in with my local independent on Monday, but I'd like to have a tinker myself, if I can.

Remove the CETE as even in bypass mode signals pass through it.
THen retest.
But with that log looks more like the sensor itself. Get underneath ensure its not a broken link, can clean connector too just incase. Easy enough to repair. Its intermittent so may resolve by doing those steps.

Thanks for the tip. I didn't realise that there was a physical linkage - I'll check that first, as that's most likely popped off from the harsh weather and water I was going through.

I'll report back with findings in case it helps others.

It turns out that the link arm has separated.

I am not certain whether the green plastic has snapped or not. Any idea from the pics? It feels rough inside, but I think it just snaps on. I need to get the wheel off to try, but before I do, I thought I'd get opinion here as whether the parts look normal and not broken.

That looks snapped. You have the air suspension lowering links fitted. Green part in the red arm looks like its part of the green arm from the sensor

So you have lowering links AND the Cete fitted ?!

I would remove all those links and put genuine ones back on then use the Cete to control all the lowering.

The car suspension is stock - I haven't fitted lowering links and have had the car from new. The links are the ride height sensor connecting rods.

Stock rods are always plastic and fixed length

That looks like red anodised metal and is adjustable:

Interesting!! Thank you. It’s off to the garage today so I’ll report back. It’s never had any suspension work done from new, other than the CETE. Curious.

Do you know whether a Replacement sensor will need coding in and the ACC systems etc recalibrated, as my local garage won’t be able to do that
